sne
Group F: Spain, Sweden, Norway, Romania, Faroe Islands, Malta Could be better, could be worse. Spain obviously far and away the best team in the group. Bit worrying to come up against 2 of the most in form sides in Europe (outside the big teams obviously) in Norway and Romania. Both of them had a stellar year in 2018. Lagerbäck and Norway against Sweden was always going to happen wasn't it... Nice to have the safety line of Play Off already secured. sne
What an utterly absurd tournament this will be. Some nations will play a bunch of games at home while some nations and fans will be forced to schlep all around Europe for their group games. And then in the knock out rounds it will be just as bad. Nice for England I guess who if they do their part will play almost the entire tournament at Wembley. Just hope for the fans sake that UEFA are a bit clever when they "draw" the groups so that it doesn't become too ridiculous and expensive for any fans who feel like following their teams in the stadiums. Sweden in the Copenhagen/St Petersburg group for example. Also cute that games are to be played in Romania despite them not qualifying and having huge problem with racism in and around the stands. villa4europe
The cynic in me says of course UEFA want England playing in their Wembley cash cow that's the whole point of this format
Zatman
Ryanair will be the big winners for this tournament. UEFA also didnt really have a choice as Turkey was the only nation to bid for hosting rights.
villa4europe
They didn't really have a choice because the corporate side of Ukraine and Poland was down on previous tournaments The number of games at Wembley shows you exactly what they're doing
Zatman
If England or Germany would have wanted to host it completely they would have. Edited November 16, 2019 by Zatman

sne
They've already managed to make the Euro's a beast so big that only a very select few countries will be able to host it on their own. England, Germany, (Russia) France and perhaps Spain and Italy. Although the last 2 or 3 might need an upgrade on the stadium front as it's getting a bit worn out and outdated. Will be 24 teams in the 2024 Euro's in Germany

Demitri_C
Why didn't we bud for 2020?? Makes no sense as it's been over twenty years since we hosted a euros?
villa4europe
We want the world cup We supposedly shook hands with Germany offering to lobby for their 2024 bid if they lobby for our next world cup bid

VillaChris
Is it right Baku is hosting some games, sure I read that. If true that's going to be ridiculous travel for whoever gets put in that group. I assume Turkey will be one team in that group. villa4europe
Group stage they'll get away with it, they'll have enough planning to put flights on But I think they've got a knockout game too which could end up the same as EL final
Dr_Pangloss
This was Platini's idea wasn't it? Between this 'idea' for 2020 and the 2022 world cup being in a backward shithole which used slaves to build the stadia I don't think I've ever given less of a **** about international football.
VillaChris
Apparently England may have to play a QF in St Petersburg, majority of their other games will be at Wembley.
