maqroll
Mystery, Alaska remains my favorite hockey film. Good comedy/drama with plenty of good hockey stuff. Hoosiers and Hoop Dreams split honors for basketball movies.

Hornso
I missed the boat on Slapshot. I watched it a few years ago for the first time and didn't get all the fuss. Definitely saw Mystery, Alaska and enjoyed it. I probably watched The Mighty Ducks trilogy way too much growing up and the first one holds up alright. The only time I've heard the phrase "Cake-eater" used as a derogatory term. As for basketball films Hoosiers is a classic. Whilst I haven't seen popular ones like White Men Can't Jump, Blue Chips, He Got Game or Above the Rim I enjoyed The Air Up There, Finding Forrester, Coach Carter and Glory Road plus Semi-Pro is good for a laugh. Started Hoop Dreams but didn't make it through to the end unfortunately as it's a great concept. By far the worst basketball movie I have seen was Thunderstruck!
