Former Aston Villa chairman Sir Doug Ellis has died, a close relative has told BirminghamLive. 

Sir Doug, who was 94, is said to have passed away in the night.

A relative told BirminghamLive the sad news today.

Not gonna pretend I had any great love for the man. I stood/sat on the Holte End on more than one occasion calling for his head, but I have great respect for what he achieved in his life.

RIP Sir Doug.
