Instead, they want responses to quaint little questions about how he's a villa fan and isn't it nice that he's home. Yes, that's all well and good but don't portray this as some parochial bullshit. He's the most progressive coach to set foot into VP and BH for years, probably in my lifetime. He's probably the most promising English manager of his generation and the reporters want to talk about his f-ing commute. Never going to get those questions in that press conference sadly.
terrytini
Expects to be in the promotion battle and rightly so. How refreshing to hear him say - effectively - there’s no particular outstanding team and we've as good a chance as any.
BigAl
Really impressive first press conference from Smith feels very right having him managing the club seems like the right fit ,I think we finally have the right man

Hopefully this will put to bed the idea that he was third choice and snapped their hands off a few hours before the announcement. As someone on that there twitter so logically put it. We're supposed to believe the press when they say Henry and Faria both turned the job down on Wednesday, and then on the same day Villa managed to approach Brentford, agree compensation with them, agree a deal with Smith and anounce him as manager. Bollocks. He was first choice all along. It's just that the press have to retrospectively manipulate the timeline to fit the crap they fed us up to that point. I'm sure Sky made a nice few bob for their SkyBet website thanks to their Sky Sports News mainpulating the market (again).

screwdriver
the big question is will he wear a suit or traccy in the dugout?
stewiek2
Bruce was never going to fit into this plan. Dead man walking from day one. I'm wondering if they kept Brucie on to tick things over while they cleared the debts and got the yes from all interested parties. I think Bruce knew it as well, hence the dogturd excuse of a recruitment policy and, ehm, "style" of football. Debt-free, CEO one of the architects of FFP, stinking rich owners, and A PLAN!?! This Lion is about to roar.

AVFCforever1991
Honestly never been more excited, he seems like a perfect fit for Villa, a very correct decision by the board, and the fact that he likes to play attacking forward thinking football is very encouraging, it's strange being a Villa fan and have complete confidence in the board, and that they will do what is best for the club. could get used to it.

Popular Post AshVilla
He said all the right things both him and Christian. Great press conference, i like the way he didn't come in and say something like roll our sleeves up, we go again or steady the ship. Very refreshing, i feel invigorated as a fan and actually look forward to us playing again. Even if we lose 3 - 0 the weekend i won't care, it's a long term project and it will take a while before the structure we have put in place pays us dividends.
