Not true, I saw him eating a pie in the dugout on more than one occasion.

Smith has none of them

Well he still has Adomah. He also has El Ghazi and had Bolasie. Plenty of wide options. Plus he has Kodjia.

He also has Abraham who is miles better than Grabban.

Missing Terry is the biggest difference.

There are definitely squad deficiencies. But it's not as bad as some make out.

It's actually amusing to see what the latest excuses are or will be........

Bruce also had a functioning Jedinak and — who was a year younger, same for Whelan and Hutton and a GK who was actually good.

He also did worse with the same team as Smith earlier this season—when both managers had a Grealish. (Smith - Grealish) = (Bruce + Grealish) more or less.

Abraham is better than Grabban but statswise they're not far apart— TA 20 goals 1 assist. LG 15 goals 3 assists.

Adomah was shit all season even under Bruce. Snodgrass is more useful than all 3

Terry is a huge loss, he organised the defence so well that some of the goals would never have happened on his watch. Mings i think has improved that at least

Terry who was injured for almost 8 weeks of the season

Tammy is twice the player of grabban.

A hungry adomah isn't that smith's job to make him hungry again?

The team was stronger last year but there is no way this year's is so much weaker than last years that Smith delivers two wins in thirteen. That's shocking.

Wasn't Smith given a window to address that though with the midfield? All he managed was a injured average cm from Swansea who were thrilled we took him off them. Obviously Smith didn't feel it was that big a issue as he never addressed it

It really is that bad, look at our bench Saturday. Also the back 4 Saturday never played together before plus new keeper. Its nearly March and we are still trying to fix the defence

Luckiky Smith has made it better

So do you think two wins in thirteen is good enough? Even that flop sherwood did better than that.

How many teams fix the squad in January? Barcelona needed a midfielder in January and got Kevin Boateng

Chelsea couldnt even find one

We are in line for where pre-season pundits predicted we finish. Most had us average of 13th

What pundits were  that? I think that's ridiculous to be honest. The squad although not perfect should be finishing above 13th.thats a massive underachievment. Smith wss brought in  to improve us and we haven't improved at all. When Bruce came I. He did improve us for the first two seasons. Smith's made us worse/same. I get he needs time.

But how can anyone make excuses for that record it's really poor.

Quote

Play-off final defeat by Fulham in May left Aston Villa facing an uncertain future. Serious financial trouble quickly became public knowledge, although those worries eased somewhat when billionaires Wes Edens and Nassef Sawiris were announced as new investors in July.

  • Nine of our journalists believe Steve Bruce's side will contest the play-offs, while five think they will finish in the bottom half of the table.
  • Two reporters predicted a bottom-six finish for Villa, although nobody tipped them to be relegated.

This was out of 23 journalists from the BBC who predicted us 8th

442 magazine who do a lot for lower league football predicted us 13th and blues 12th

It is slightly amusing that a lot of the same people who slaughtered anyone making "excuses" for Bruce in his first season seem to be using the same "excuses" for Smith this time around.

And at the same time the people who were making them for Bruce are accepting none of it now for Smith.

At least we can all enjoy Aston Villa sucking at football regardless of manager.

Good times.

Written on August 1st, before transfer window had closed and before we signed McGinn, Abraham, Bolasie et al......

Great.
