Popular Post Mantis
So what the article is saying basically is that we're not looking for a new manager but that if we start next season badly then Smith's job could be under threat. Amazing insight.

Hardly surprising. It could also be referring to meetings held about players and nothing to do with Nuno.

I think he was youth coach at Walsall before he got the job. Henry was one of them, i know Deeney played under him as well at youth level

Mantis
17th longest-serving manager in the entire Football League as things stand. Interesting to note that the last manager we had to last around this length of time was Lambert, and by that point he'd gotten incredibly stale and clearly didn't have that long left. So far Smith has managed to keep things fresh.

So far Smith has managed to keep things fresh. its very difficult to go too overboard on managers, as their sheer existence in the job is volatile. Winning is one commodity that keeps the wolves from the door......lose regularly and the doubts, start....Its inevitable. Dean has done a great job in terms of gradual improvement, but lets be fair here, he has had great support from the Owners and the CEO, not to mention his coaches. I think Dean is a builder, not in a hurry, but insists on a level of gradual improvement, I don't know where his ceiling is, and right now, I don't much care, because I am totally sold on the gradual improvement. I hope he is with us for a heck of a long time, because if he is, we will be doing well. Keeping all the plates spinning at once is a very difficult task, but it looks like Dean is doing it. I really like his persona, maybe develop and edge as he gets better himself. For a kid from Great Barr, you are doing ok Deano. UTV
