To be honest, if there was any team in the top 6 I would have wanted to face in the final, it was Derby. I was celebrating like a madman when they beat Leeds because I was certain we'd lose to them. City can afford him, it's just that they aren't in the market for £80m players, they like to shop in the £40-60m range. United could have signed him if they pulled the finger out etc. He stayed because according to him, the club convinced him to stay by outlining their ambition. It looks like Dean buys into it too as I imagine if he didn't he would give Jack his blessings to leave, which from what I can tell, he didn't. I was just trying to give some context to the likelihood of each happening before they started. You're dead on with regards to his great work being priced in as well. The day before that Derby game in 2019 you'd have got way longer odds on us winning 5 in a row in the PL at the start of the 20/21 season than 1,100/1. That was a 109 year club record and a Championship record that still stands to this day.
