I really enjoy listening to Dean, he is a breath of fresh air compared to bruce and others that have managed us.. I feel like our players are adopting Deans style fast which is great, but our players have always been a passionate bunch, it's crazy that bruce couldn't get out of them what Dean is, there is something really wrong with the way bruce manages. As it stands we should go to Birmingham city and do the business there, hope we do anyway and have faith we will come away with 3 points. Excellent score yesterday and Nyland seems to be improving, here's hoping he has another brilliant game against Birmingham city. I bet our owners are licking there lips as of late, everyone from top down to the bottom seems to be bringing this club back slowly, of course there are tons of hurdles to go but we have the squad for it. Nine points from top, it isn't much at all and it only requires those teams above us to slip up, it's so tight this season's championship is at the moment.

They sure do, is crazy that early this season our players looked out of touch with football, not as fit, puzzled, were like a jigsaw unable to fit any pieces together. Then Dean comes in and we now look explosive, attitudes have gone higher, fitness is up, tactics installed, their is a real belief in what they go and do, it's amazing. Good thing for Dean is he got his dream job in the end and he is going to do all he can do make villa shine..

I have to admit I was one of those that started to believe many of players just weren’t good enough because they have been so poor for so long. But it may just be that they were managed and coached so badly for so long.

mikeyp102
I was one who was slightly pessimistic about his appointment, not that I thought he was a bad manager, just that I thought the job and club may be too big for him. Early days, but he certainly seems to be alleviating those fears. The turnaround in performances and mentality are clear to see and Smith deserves a lot of credit for that. They always say that you learn more about the manger in the way the team bounces back from defeat. Smith having had 2 away defeats in a week, could easily have adopted his approach to be more defensive in the next away game. He did not do that. He stuck to his beliefs and mentality and has just obtained a cracking away result. Long may it continue

alreadyexists Posted November 11, 2018 VT Supporter Share Posted November 11, 2018 And to think we almost had Thierry Henry if the papers are to be believed. Still without a win at Monaco and they’re playing PSG today. Not that I watch Ligue 1 at all these days, but I gather Monaco finished second last year. Yes I know what your saying, for so long it looked and sounded like we had or have a bunch of rejects the Dean Smith comes in and they all start playing a million times better. Our players devalued because of the crap performances and all because we were portly coached or in Bruce's case not coached at all. We have had players in where we have written them off because we thought they didn't pull their weight in the team, expensive signings as well, I do wonder what some of our rejects would be like under Smith. Do wonder if McCormack would of even fell out of favour under Smith, i do think managers like bruce who have there favourites and so quick to alienate other players relise that talent is going down the drain because of their actions, its not always the players fault, Dean seems to give everyone a fair chance. Smith for me certainly has opened my eyes up again, to be honest and because of 8 or more bad seasons of being managed, I was beginning to think Dean Smith's style of football was not only a myth but would we ever see it at Aston Villa. We deserve all of what should becoming back to villa down the road. The club, the fans they deserve success after the bleak times we have had to endure and it's amazing how the new owners are in it for the win and want to see success back at out club.. Since I joined this forums last season, I don't ever think I recall this forum where so many were enjoying the game again. The place is mostly filled with positive comments and us fans see the changes and have faith in the owners, coaches basically from the top down.
Vive_La_Villa
I know I’m getting way ahead of myself but I just watched city united game and the way city pressed, kept the ball and kept winning the second ball back reminding me of our second half yesterday. (Obviously at a much lower level). Its such a joy to watch.

The bloke is some coach. Some coach is an understatement I think. Dean Smith at the moment is like a Spartan Coach, I can just picture him now saying (This is Villa) not sparta. To me Smith and everyone who is working at the side of Smith have done wonders I didn't believe in miracles but I do now, with how fast and smooth Smith has got on with things he deserves the championship trophy end of the season if we keep putting in these displays. I believe that Smith knows he has the rite team to take him all the way to the premiere. Smith knows that when his lads are playing there best that on the rite days that we will be taking all 3 points home. I honestly wished we had of had this set up earlyier, wished I didn't support bruce so much at the end and glad I gave my nod for Smith and said no to Henry. Would of been a disaster Henry would of, would of been getting relegated under henry and someone would of been buying more cabbages.
Popular Post ciggiesnbeer
Yeah its genuinely nice to be enjoying watching the football we play. Dont get me wrong I enjoyed a few winning games under our previous managers as well. The difference here is our style of play is just lovely to watch and getting better. Most importantly perhaps is Smith ooozes Respect. Respect for the players : treats them like the pro's they are, always looking for ways to help them get better. Respect for the fans: treats us like we are intelligent football fans. Assumes the best of us and often shares things he doesnt need to but wants to explain why he made certain decisions. Respect for the opposition: never takes them lightly and always has a positive word for them, particularly when he loses. Doesnt gloat or enjoy "shutting up" his own fans when he wins. Respect for previous managers: he has never said a bad word about Steve Bruce, he has only praised him. Each one of our past three managers have had a little pop at the previous regimes. Respect for the craft: he wants to play football which is modern, entertaining, attacking and thoughtful. This might sound like a minor thing but I happily tell friends who support other clubs that we are a good team to watch now. I havent been able to say that for years.
