Vive_La_Villa
Whilst I’m buzzing right now I’m not going to get to excited and be a hypocrite. I’ve said from the start he deserves at least 2 windows before he is trully judges and I’m standing by that even when we’re looking pretty impressive.
Popular Post Barney_avfc
Dean Smith when asked, "Why were you shouting at your players to get up whilst 2-0 up? Surely you could have sat back and played it safe? Why take the risk?" " My philosophy is this : 1-0, 2-0 or 5-0 up: never ever settle for it, you must be hungry for more. If you do sit back not only are you inviting the opposition to get back into the game but you are showing them mercy. You have to look at the bigger picture, I don't only want us to destroy our current opponent's. I want to breed fear into our next ones " Edited November 10, 2018 by Barney_avfc 6
Johnnyp
So impressed by this guy. Seen his interview on AVTV after the match and the last line was so refreshing when asked about Birmingham " They play differently to derby so we will have to prepare accordingly " ( paraphrasing slightly, didn't get it word for word but basically that ) Bruce would play on the emotional aspect of derby day to get em fired up . Smith has zero interest in that. Birmingham will be studied in depth and we will train hard and take that into match day . Almost cold and calculated but love it.

Popular Post macandally
10 years we have been in the wilderness, at last we have a plan on and off the pitch. Fingers crossed my kids may now see the Aston Villa I have seen in my lifetime.
mykeyb
Remember when some of us said Bruce was not a proper manager and we were asked who could do a better job.................... A proper manager who improves players rather than looking to sign better players on loan.

Popular Post Tomaszk
He's the person seemingly least excited by the result. Focussed on looking at the bigger picture and not getting carried away. Absolutely fantastic.
Troglodyte Posted November 10, 2018 VT Supporter Share Posted November 10, 2018 Very happy with Smith so far. He speaks sense and, even more importantly, the evidence that what he's saying is being put into action is clear to see on the pitch.
AvfcRigo82
Great manergerial performance today and we're showing great signs of improvement within the last few games as a whole. Good times.
Jareth Posted November 10, 2018 VT Supporter Share Posted November 10, 2018 Same guy every match interview. I felt we’d play as we did whatever the score. What we have is the definition of consistency, albeit the good sort compared to SB.
PieFacE Posted November 10, 2018 VT Supporter Share Posted November 10, 2018 Tis amazing how much better we're playing in such a short space of time. All credit to Smith and his staff. Really wish we didn't have this International break.
Brumstopdogs
Love it when I hear Smith talking about "setting traps" for the opposition. Quote We set up our stall and knew it would be a cagey affair, with both teams playing a similar style. We set traps for them. We wanted their centre-halves to have it and block things off. Tom Huddlestone had too much of the ball in the first half, but then Tammy Abraham took him out of the game and we worked our chances. https://www.avfc.co.uk/News/2018/11/10/the-boss-smith-on-derby-triumph Edited November 10, 2018 by Brumstopdogs
Dave J
To be honest I have had a full day of DIY was it as convincing as the scoreline ?
Wezbid
It's really difficult not to be a cheap swine and have a pop at Bruce. BUT. He gave it his all and was way too short on a huge budget without any sort of plan. Four or five weeks in with Smith and it's a million miles away from the usual. Loving it. More to come. We could have easily have conceded the first and it is QPR all over again. Saying that we could easily have scored 7 ourselves. Football swings on big moments. 3-0 win away and I am in dreamland. Another day Derby take their chances and we are the ones who lose 3-0 and rue not taking ours first.
