Popular Post Dr_Pangloss
Really on a different planet to Bruce today, we were everything a Steve Bruce side isn't, aggressive, playing with high tempo, pressing high, constant intensity and focused on keeping the ball. Of course, there's areas to improve, too many defensive lapses in the first half, too many missed chances throughout, however it's clear that Smith is implementing his ideas and the team are receptive to them, we will only improve. What I really love about this is that there's no real place for Jedinak player. I've said ever since we've been in the Championship that a holding, 'destroyer' type is simply not need at this level if you press high and keep the ball. I'm so glad Smith believes in this logic and is putting it in place here, we will benefit so much more from it. Great stuff so far.

Guest av1
What i love about Dean Smith is that he never tries to shut up shop, get a goal, he wants another. This is what we've all been crying out for. Now that isn't always going to work, there will be times when we conceed chasing more goals, but I'd confidently predict that his philosophy will win us many more points than it loses. And it's infinitely more enjoyable to watch. We are going places with this bloke.

Farlz
Baffles me that we didn't bin Bruce in the summer and get Smith in then. I don't even want to think how different that would've been today with Bruce in charge. Absolutely delighted today, everything I've wanted to see from Villa for so long.
Farlz
This isn't really something that Smith can fix himself but if our forwards can stop being so wasteful we can really blow some teams away this season.
Stockport_Villain
So glad he came. After a few weeks the difference in the way the team plays is unrecognisable. I’m loving it.

We've got quality players and should certainly be aiming for a play-off place. They didn't seem to have direction or self-belief. It all looked stale. VillaChris
Well played by the management. We displayed the mindset we've lacked for years today. Hopefully can really build momentum from this result as it's more impressive than just beating relegation candidates at home.
