There’s no guarantee we’ll storm the league next season as we need a total overhaul. That takes time.

Nuno was brought in to develop a philosopy at Wolves and they expected it to take a least 2 years until promotion.

I suspect the same approach is being planned at Villa. They probably hoped he’d be given more slack because he’s one of us.

My concern is he won’t be given enough time due to mounting pressure from some of our fans.

Blimey! It’s started already....

I hope the owners stay strong

UTV!

Nuno took a season, Bielsa took a season, farkes taken two. I want to see a much bigger improvement next year. This year's been bloody awful.

i can tell you DS has around 18 months to manage villa from his appointment being day 1,

this time frame is getting shorter as "they" are hot happy,

if the ratio of points v games continues in the current vain ....

ITK?

You state "they are not happy" but I'm not clear whether you mean the fans,  owner's or both?

Can you elaborate further?

Have Derby won more than 7 in 22?  I can't be arsed to look but I'm guessing yes maybe be the answer?

I could be arsed.....9 wins in their last 22. I wonder if those 2 additional wins would make much of a difference on here.

9 wins, 8 draws & 5 defeats - 35 points

compared to our  :

7 wins, 8 draws & 7 defeats - 29 points

Might not look much but an extra 6 points would currently see us sat 8th rather than 10th and  only 3 points off Bristol City in the final play off spot rather than 9 behind so imagine it would make a bit of difference to peoples outlooks

Maybe. I also wonder whether people would also consider the additional three or four months and extra transfer window Lampard has had.

All had a pre season. Smith has been here 4 months and we have had no break between games except 1 international break

Just a further point on this.....Derby...EIGHT draws?!? What is Lampard - the draw specialist or something?

I'm getting tired of some of the comments that i've heard, especially on WM. Some of those callers really have been eating lead for breakfast or something.

"We won the european cup, we deserve to be in the premier league" etc.

We won the european cup 2 years before Glen Whelan was born, and Jack Grealish was 11 when Randy Lerner bought us.

Currently, we are a mid-table championship club, and the form and results shows this, this is the reality we are facing. We can't delude ourselves that it should be different. It isn't.

We deserve to be where we are, and that is where we are. Until we lose this expectation that we should be winning every game (with the squad we have?!), the fans will get on the backs of the players and we will continue to have this god awful manager merry go round.

Yes, some of the results have been utter garbage. It takes time to turn a ship that has been so far adrift for so long. Give him some time, at least. Try something different.

We weren’t mid-table last season though, we finished 4th and were 90 minutes and 1 goal away from the premier league.

So, ignore all the talk about what happened in tne early 80s, we have fallen back significantly on where we were just 12 months ago.

In my view the reasons for this have little to do with the unrealistic expectations of fans - wanting the club to be better than mid table Championship standard is hardly outrageous. It has to do with the chaotic actions of our last owner and the failure of our managers this season.

Those are the issues we need to see addressed.

With a better squad too. They have a number of good attacking options, we onlybhave Jack and Tammy

Can't disagree with this, to be fair, but it is what it is, the owners have taken action and are trying to deal with an aging squad, loanees who probably don't care that much and our main and most expensive asset being crocked for too long.

I too want the club to be better, but to change a whole squad of (further aging) cloggers takes more than 3 months, wouldn't you agree?

I'm really encouraged by the signings we have made, McGinn, especially, if we can continue to get players of that caliber in, the future looks a lot brighter, long term gain, short term pain. We were always due a transition.

We would have been annihilated in the Prem with this squad.

Can't spell annihilated.

It's also Lampards first go as Manager, anywhere.

They've played well against, and beaten Premier league teams.

Their expectations / needs are not as high as ours.

Theyre above us in the league and their form is better.

But yeah aside from that, them losing at home to Millwall is directly comparable with our situation.......great comparison.

A better squad, hilarious.

you dont think they have had a better squad all season?

Only Villa players that get in Derby team is Tammy, Mings, Jack and McGinn. 2 are on loan(1 joined in January) and 1 is injured
