There are so many unknowns about this game, and who will be our manager is the biggest. But I also really don’t know what our starting eleven will look like. Nyland or Bunn or Moreira, who plays at CB?, defensive midfielder Jedi or Whelan or play McGinn and Hourihane as a central pair, or maybe a 4-3-3. Bolasie, El Ghazi, Adomah, Kodjia?

I hate these international breaks, they don’t half drag on. Roll on 20th Oct and we can get back to work.

If we did go for a 4-3-3, this could work;

                             Moreira

Elmo     Tuanzebe      Hutton    Taylor

      Hourihane    McGinn   Bolasie

       Grealish      Tammy     Kodjia

but... what do I know!?

Without a manager, we can just pick whatever we like. Yay!

Hutton------------Chester---------Tuanzebe-----------Taylor

-------------------------------Bjarnason--------------------------------

-------------McGinn----------------------Hourihane----------------

---------------------------------Grealish----------------------------------

-------------Abraham--------------------Kodjia----------------------

Also, according to the (not always reliable) online ticket map, there are only about 3,300 tickets left for this one as things stand. I wonder if a new manager announcement this week would push sales to the point where the Upper Trinity would need to open?

I think Nyland is a disaster. I would either recall Steer or play Bunn until January.

I honestly think McGinn is over-rated (I know I will get dogs for that.)
He's busy and puts himself about but he's reckless in possession and never creates anything (worldy goal aside.) I fully expect the new manager will drop him eventually. It's fine doing it against Kilmarnock and Forfar Athletic but the standard is just better down here even in the Championship. As ever I'm happy to be proved completely wrong and for him go to be a Villa legend but I just can't see it.
He's not good enough on the ball like a Townsend, Richardson, Platt or Taylor.

                              Bunn

Elmo          Chester    Tuanzebe        Hutton

                         Thor* Hourihane

            Bolasie         Grealish       Kodjia**

                                Abraham

*I would go back to last year's idea having Thor, Jedi or Whelan as CDM depending on the opposition (Thor the default choice for his energy and ability to pop up with a goal) partnered with Hourihane.

2 wingers and Grealish roaming around as number 10.

It's a 4231 rolling in to a 4411 depending on how you see it.

**I'm not convinced by he post injury Kodjia anymore. He needs to produce or be rotated with El Ghazi and Adomah

But we still have a squad (which set up correctly and coached) could tear up most teams down here.
I also really like Bree who I think with better coaching could become a fine right back over "never take a risk ever, I am another Ashley Westwood sideways/backwards" Elmo

I noticed last week how well sales were going. Our crowds are definitely stronger this season for some strange reason.

Was Chester only banned for one game then? I thought it was 2 with the straight red. Good stuff if he’s back!

Ha ha... yeah, that is a pretty garbage back line. If we add Chester it’s a bit better, but in regard to GK they’re all crap as far as I can tell.

Hoping there will be a surge of ticket sales now for this one. If it wasn't my fiance bday I would be there.

Bring her with you. Perfect birthday present ?

Smith, seems to like a 4231 if that's the case then I would go with:

This.

Except Hutton at left back and Neil Taylor shot from a cannon into the sun.

He’s still a good footballer, just because he was poor last season, doesn’t make him a poor player overall. Before last season, he had been a solid Premier League footballer for Swansea and internationally for Wales
