The_Rev Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 So, can anyone recommend any good ones for my iPod? After the sad demise of Baker and Kelly, im down to 3 subscriptions. Fighting Talk Mark Kermode 1upyours All of them are weekly, all of them are talk based. Can you suggest one that i might enjoy? And i think its worth saying before i go any further that i dont really "get" Ricky Gervais' podcast. Listening to Karl Pilkington say something stupid so that Ricky Gervais and Steven Merchant can howl like hyenas at him for 30 seconds before calling him stupid and then waiting for Pilkington to defend his position so that Ricky Gervais and Steven Merchant can howl at him like hyenas for 30 seconds before calling him stupid again isnt really that great, is it? :?
NorthernGordon Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 I've got a podcast but it's a reggae music podcast so I doubt that many here would enjoy it. I often get the World football phone-in from Radio 5 Live to listen to the next day as it's always on at 2-30am on a Friday night/Saturday morning when I'm either out or sleeping.

I can only concur. I do think Gervais is funny, but his podcast is nothing other than dull. Fighting Talk & Kermode are the only 2 I subscribe to. I wish Johnny Vaughn would do Fighting Talk though 10 times better than that tit Murry
Rodders Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 Ive just bought my first ipod today and discovering this podcast business right now. ive signed up to kermodes, fighting talk and I recommend The Onion podcasts which is very funny satire on US news stories. I accidentally got a few too many others too.
leviramsey Posted January 10, 2008 VT Supporter Posted January 10, 2008 World Soccer Daily (the #1 podcast in the world, according to podcast.com.
Santa_Rosa Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Russell Brand's is pretty good, as is the Now Show and the News Quiz, both of which come with the BBC Friday Night comedy podcast. I did like the Russ and Jon podcast from 6 Music but they started to grate on me after a while. I'm enjoying Adam and Joe at the minute, but I'm not sure if they have a podcast. I expect so, must have a look.

Yes, yes it is.
The_Rev Posted April 1, 2008 Author Posted April 1, 2008 Hump! Added Friday Night Comedy a couple of months ago, the Now Show is very funny, though when Sandi Toksvig takes her turn to be on it im left unimpressed. So my Podcasts are up to: 1upyours. EGM weekly. Guardian Tech Weekly. Friday Night Comedy. The Game (the times football podcast) Steven Fry (well, the two that he has done so far) Kermode. Fighting Talk. Any other recommendations that have appeared in the last quarter of a year since this thread was made?

I beg to differ, Nays. Karl Pilkington is a genius. A genius with a head like a **** orange! I'd recommend a couple of good podcasts, but they're all in Norwegian so you would understand anything anyway.
bickster Posted April 1, 2008 Moderator Posted April 1, 2008 Video podcast - the best of You tube though sporadic in its output levels quite often contains some quite interesting youtube outakes Radio 1 Indie podcast, is sometimes ok but anything of this nature is always going to be hot and miss same goes for Tom Robinson introducing Coffee break french is another I subscribe to but uless you intend starting to learn / relearn / revise simple french its not going to be much interest
Tom_L Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 Film Spotting is very good, but only really worthwhile if you're a film buff... it's not really for the casual blockbuster watching type. and being American (broadcasts out of Chicago) you get the reviews of films which aren't out here for a few months.
blandy Posted April 1, 2008 Moderator Posted April 1, 2008 The Villa do a podcast - search for it on iTunes to find it. interviews with MO'N and players, presumably off the club website, for those interested in that sort of thing.

The_Rev Posted September 2, 2008 Author Posted September 2, 2008 The latest Steven Fry podcast (out today) was so **** brilliant that i feel compelled to bump this thread.

Please tell me its Woodward free? Nope, but I listen to it and enjoy it, last weeks with Sid was really good. Gamespot + Villa OS one for me. Not sure what else tickles my fancy :-(
The_Rev Posted September 3, 2008 Author Posted September 3, 2008 My full list of subscribed podcasts is quite huge at the moment. Fighting Talk (new series starts on saturday?) Guardian Football Weekly (best footy podcast, very funny. New episode every Monday and Thursday) Guardian Tech Weekly Guardian Music Weekly Friday Night Comedy (currently off air) Science with Dr Karl Kermode's film reviews Giant Bombcast 1up FM (its a collective stream of gaming podcasts, i subscribe mostly for the excellent 1up yours and the peerless GFW radio which is my favourite podcast of them all)
