Agree, if anything that (Milner, Young etc) should be the warning sign. Seen it far too often.. We need to target quality not quantity now.

Frustrating for me is we didn't do more in January. At that point we were in really good position to kick on just as we were in all the MON years and also the first year or two under Gregory.

Seems too often as a club we peak around xmas/Jan in our good seasons and instantly convinced ourselves our 11 is amazing and there's no one in world football worth of replacing any of them.

West Ham sign Lingard and move well ahead of us and he's not even that good....

You had loads on here saying there was no need to sign another CF. Ollie is only 1 in 3 so we need to be realistic sometimes.

Hopefully we'll learn one of these seasons as still feels a bit same old to me. We'll lose Jack, won't have a clue who to sign or what to do, DS will get sacked and we'll be back to relegation fights probably dosen't seem such an outlandish prediction by the time 2024 rolls in. Hope I'm wrong.

Explain. Or are you just trolling? Yea I think you're trolling.

Well we spent 80m in the summer ans ovee the last 5 games we have looked as bad as last season.

Without grealish we should be able to win games or show we can actually play.we have failed to do so. So that suggests we failed this summer with most of our signings.

"Another big spend " that suggests a big failure in the last summer

It isn't. We signed well. It depends what the target is though. People seem to think seriously challenging top 4 is easy but it really isn't nowadays. If we're just happy to finish 9-11th for next two seasons we continue as we are. 7th or above needs much more genuine quality and proven players. Everton done that and they'll probably finish 7th or 8th but still a fair bit off top 4.

Serious top level players. Said it before but if these owners are serious I'd be going all in for likes of Mahrez or Giroud if they become available from their clubs in summer or next January. Players who've played huge parts in their clubs winning stuff in last 5-6 years and the sort that would keep Jack here no problem. Short term but all clubs sign short term players for success and build from there.

If they don't think DS can attract that type then that's another decision to make further down the road.

To push in the top 6 we need more investment regardless of who the manager is or what you think of him. NSWE have indicated so far at least they are committed and have backed up this with the spending amount.. however like Lerner though they are about to find out the true cost of trying to get the club in or around Europe which requires a lot more spending. Let’s hope the commitment stays the same.

You know that’s not true though, you know we are only into a second season in building a squad.  Others teams add to their squad each summer, so not only are we buying to build a squad and catch up but what we are trying to catch up to are getting better themselves.

We avoided relegation last season and so far after 28 games we are 10th with a game in hand. Ollie, Cash and Emi have been successes, the jury is out on Traore...you can’t say we haven’t improved materially.

To compete with the top 4 you have to buy from them or as you say sign a top 4 manager.

Next season is a big season to see if we can consolidate in the top 10.

Thats the thing though we only know if they are successes when they have to step up and none of them are.

Its very concerning

Not certain we'll finish top 10 now but I agree. Probably push to see if we can finish 7th or 8th....like errr Wolves and Burnley did a few years after coming up.

The flip side is as the years go by we don't have the excuse of being newly promoted anymore and you'll always get the odd top team that stagnates and falls down the league as Arsenal have done the last few seasons and Liverpool were like that generally before Klopp came in and may go down after he leaves.

They'll be more chances in next 5 years but we need to be a bit more ruthless and sharper at times. Perhaps different with the money but Man. City and Chelsea weren't just content signing second tier players, they went out and got some of the best defenders and forwards in world football and win trophies most seasons as a result.

Our template is more Leicester but again they've lost Mahrez, Kante, Chilwell and Magure in last 5 years yet will likely be top 4 and in a cup final this season.

You are trolling surely?  Emi not stepping up? Cash was poor tonight but has been exceptional this season and Ollie has been quality but looks knackered now because has no support at the moment.

I get the impression that the owners wanna stick a finger up at the ffp nonsense. This is just by what Wes Edens has done in the NFL with that contract. The only thing is we need to start selling one or two for a profit however small to be sustainable.

Man City and Chelsea (and Newcastle if the Sauds take over ) are different but even they need to balance the books. Hopefully we don't need to sell one of the Jewels in the next 2 seasons.

Haha what? Do you even watch football?

Have you seen what spurs and City had to spend and how long for to become a top 4 club.

Have you seen the players those top 6 clubs have in their squad compared to ours.

You've allowed your expectations to completely bypass reality.
