I don't thinj the owners will mess about, it will be bang - bang - bang  ....next

I hope their thinking when it comes to Purslow is - Well you hired Suso , he's been a disaster. You also hired Smith, again not very good. Adios.

Neither Smith or Suso have been a disaster, the club's situation has improved considerably since they came in, even if we're relegated this season. And there's much more to Purslow's job than what's happening on the pitch, you can't keep sacking the CEO whenever you have a bad season, if you're going to go as far as saying he should go because he appointed Suso and Smith you might as well turn around and say the owners should go for appointing Purslow.

Smith and Suso are responsible for the football side of things so they're the ones who's postion will be in question because of poor performances on the pitch.

Where does that leave us? A Yank who hasn't a clue about our sport and a bloke from Egypt. I'd stick with Purslow for now, he at least knows football and the industry.

No it's not contradictory, although it might be a little too nuanced for it to reveal it's finer point at first look.

Even if we go down this season, that in itself won't mean that Smith and Suso have been a disaster, because overall we will still be in a much better place than when they arrived at the club, we now have the premier league money, parachute payments and value in players such as Grealish has increased considerably.

But that doesn't mean to say they shouldn't be held accountable for relegation this season, Leicester sacked Ranieri, he was far from a disaster for them, Arsenal sacked Wenger, he too wasn't a disaster for them. There's a difference between judging the current season and whether or not a manager might be the right person or not going forward, and judging a person's overall time at a club.

Nicola Cortese. He'd get shit done. A ruthless b.astard if ever there was one.

Yes he came to mind the other day when thinking about that good few years Southampton had. Certainly knew how to attract manager and was also ruthless sacking Nigel Adkins which we need a bit of here.

Has he even been working in football since he left Southampton?

Think he's gone back into banking which was his background anyway. Got serious flak when he sacked Adkins ( who had them outside the relegation zone at the time ) Pochetino didn't speak a word of English. Cortese stayed calm and asked fans to trust him.

Anyone remember the video hastily filmed after the play-off final where Purslow claimed: "We are Aston Villa....we won't be just making up the numbers...(in the PL)"?

It was awful then and more so now, I recall seeing Smith visibly squirming in his seat as he had to endure Purslow's foolhardy comments.

'Foolhardy' just about sums us up, the season has been a disaster.

Naive management from the top down and mirrored by signing a bunch of players untested in the PL.

We needed a Cahill-type next to Mings, a Milner-type next to Luiz and a proven goalscorer to support Wesley.

Abject failure complete....almost!

Loves the limelight too. The interviews. Going into the sky sports news studios was cringe giving that interview pre season.

We start every match with at least 7 players that aren’t good enough at this level.

Thats on him.

I’d rather see him go than Smith.

Purslow (supposedly) made the worst decision of the season by giving Smith the extension for no apparent reason at all. The real owners seem to have bet on the wrong horse.

Why?  Do you think he’s in tune with the clubs predicament and has a good plan for next season?

What has he done to be sacked. 90 percent of his work is behind the scenes

You cant just sack everyone when it doesn't go your way. We be taking the piss if Newcastle or West Ham fans having similar tantrums

True. I just always look back to how he recruited Hogson for Liverpool though. Whilst his a good manager it just seem like crazy judgement for who the right person could be a for a particular team.  You don’t have to be a football genius to just know that appointment was going to fail.

You’re right though. We’re getting a bit carried away saying sack him.
