Not the game to be worrying about quality of play, we don't even know who will be in the team come the weekend.

This was all about the points and getting rid of that horrible few months since we left Wembley.

Gritty and determined, well done.

Overall i think we were average to poor against a very poor hull side.

A couple of moments of brilliamce from us got us goals, and a few good saves and some poor finishing at the otjer end kept us on top.  Could so easily have gone the other way.

We are going to need to be a lot better than we were tonight if we have aspirations of promotion.

Fingers crossed for some quality transfers (in and out) before the window closes as i fear we will need a lot more quality to push on.

That's why when we lose, it's so dreary. There's no punch to our play, it's almost pedestrian at times. We need more purpose to our play. Even with a 3 - 1victory away, there's a feeling of something is still not right.

Can we all agree Steer was fantastic yesterday? I don't think he did anything particularly wrong for their goal, he came forward and punched clear as far as he could, the goal was a partial fluke nothing he could've done. But after that he made some blinding saves, kept us in it and essentially won us the match.

100% this. We simply have to get more pace into the side. We are extremely one dimensional most of the time and if Jack doesn't get involved we are desperately short on creative ability.

A great result after a tumultuous summer of malcontent. Villa can only beat what is put in front of them, and after last night's match, I think the result says more about Hull's fortunes this season than ours. Good to see the team spirit still there after the goals from our defenders. Kodjia, a slovenly performance... he needs a kick up the backside, or gtfo. Not having that kind of performance from a goal getter. Our defence bothers me as well... not sure my sphincter will take that kind of regular clenching pressure against better opposition.

Shame to see Hull's support so mixed. The stay away fans in protest at the owner, the ones in the stadium not knowing whether to clap, cheer or flap the seats. Hope things improve for them.

Heart-warming to see the visiting support honour the applause for Hull's young fan who lost their life during the summer. Sometimes, our support can show class.

Great result and all that and thought it was quite comfortable without really getting out of second gear, thought Grealish was closely watched and hacked by their captain

bit surprised that Steer was voted motm by a few here, imo he was at fault for the goal and the great save that he did pull off in the second half was offside anyways.  Not convinced by him and wouldn't be surprised if we do bring in Nyland to be no. 1

By the reaction from Bruce when Kodjia did not pass to Elmo on that counter attack, we'll definitely bring in another attacker. It's a real shame to see him put in a performance like that continuing on from last season

Im more convinced than ever that we cant have Whelan (or Jedi) in the starting line up, he gave us nothing up until we scored the second goal. When Hull started pushing on a bi for an equaliser, his last 20 mins was immense defensively.  Id still prefer we started with a ball playing midfielder instead

Hull were absolute cack but 3 goals & 3 points with a still somewhat makeshift team is all you can ask for. After 1 game we already have more points than 16 other teams in the league (including most of the likely promotion candidates) and we have what looks to be a kind fixture on Saturday to make it 2 wins from 2 with the chance of some exciting new additions to the squad to come before then.

Fun fact.  Last season when we conceded first, we managed to win 2 of those games.  This season when we concede first, we've already won one.

... so we only have 1 more come-from-behind win to go this season? Way to take the wind out of our sails, BOF!

Great result.

Just an observation/question; why is it that if you score and jump in the crowd you get booked. But if you havent scored but jump in the crowd to celebrate, you dont get booked.

It is like the goalscorer is the instigator?

Exactly that the goalscorer is punished. Stupid rule for me, the point of football is to score, you should be allowed to celebrate with your fans. Obviously if it used to waste time then offenders should be shot, especially if they wear predominantly red or blue kits ;)
