Davis got a chance under him tbf, and Grealish was impressive under Bruce. O'Hare and others had chances, but failed to impress, in cup matches.

Here we go again.  Bruce said at the time that he only played Davis because he was forced by injury.  When Grealish was hurt he played proven ineffective seniors ahead of presumably ineffective youth that won the league.

Support Teflon Steve if you wish.  Fair enough.  There are things to support. But making up and revising history is annoying.

No revisionism there. He played young players. Teflon Steve - hilarious.

He played young players but only rarely and unwillingly and in cup ties.   But sure, let’s pretend he’s the pied piper of a youth movement.   That’s what makes “Teflon Steve” fit.

Tho thread is apparently about André Moraira, so why are we getting the standard and boring anti-Bruce stuff here?

Get back to your own thread!

It's getting duller and duller that every thread is full of a anti Bruce stuff. He's here, the season hasn't yet started so can we just comment on the topic in hand instead of another place to bash the Bruce.

Aston Villa have signed Atletico Madrid keeper Andre Moreira on loan.

The 22-year-old has arrived at Villa Park from the La Liga giants and will stay for the season in what is the first tangible proof that the cash problems have disappeared.

Moreira was at Bodymoor Heath on Thursday undergoing a medical and will rival Jed Steer for the number one jersey.

Interesting choice of words from Wiki

In August 2014, after impressing with the Portuguese under-19s at the 2014 UEFA European Championship, Moreira was sold to Jorge Mendes' GestiFute and signed a six-year deal with Atlético Madrid

Point well made. Not everyone wanted Steve Bruce to continue but the majority of fans agreed to get behind this decision made by our new owners and the team if only until early results put his role into question once again. We have only had a couple of days since our manager was given what may yet prove to be only a short term reprieve and have lost just one friendly match on the same day that decision was reached. We now have made our first signing and although I along with most of us know little to nothing about the player a signing is surely positive news in itself. We all want to see our young players get games this coming season and I'm sure they will. Let's either back the decision to retain our manager or for those that feel unable to do so keep our powder dry before calling for his head should we put a run of bad results together.

Hopefully turns out to be a good signing.

Lets be honest, going into the season with Steer (injury prone), Bunn (not a first choice keeper) and Sarkic (not ready for first team football); would have been reckless.

Now we have a goalkeeper with a similar size and stature to Johnstone who can push Steer for the number one slot. I imagine it's costing us very little to have him here, and in comparison to Johnstone we are making a saving on costs.

Would be nice if we put in an option to buy at the end of the season so we aren't in the same situation as Johnstone if he proves himself to be a useful keeper.
