I can see some mutually beneficial crossover happening, but I don’t think it’s the start of a villa global sporting team empire ala Citeh IMO .... Popular Post Mark Albrighton Posted January 9, 2019 VT Supporter Popular Post Share Posted January 9, 2019 Being reasonably prominent on social media, there’s always the slightest chance that Mallory has had a quick look on VT to see what we’re saying about her Dad (Hi Mallory, so far your Dad’s alright by me, nice shirt by the way). Of course if we really did think she was looking on here I can imagine that most of VT would act in a way that’s akin to - 2

Popular Post Mark Albrighton Posted March 6, 2019 VT Supporter Popular Post Share Posted March 6, 2019 (edited) For those interested here’s an article touching on Wes Edens’ involvement with the Milwaukee Bucks - Quote CHARLOTTE, N.C. – When Wes Edens and Marc Lasry bought the Milwaukee Bucks in April 2014, they knew they had gotten themselves into a long-term project. There was literal building that needed to be done to both update the team’s facilities and keep the franchise in Milwaukee. There was also a rebuild that needed to happen with the team’s roster, which at the time of their purchase was concluding a 15-win season. The pair of billionaire hedge-fund managers from New York knew change wasn’t going to come immediately. They had lofty goals but recognized it would take a series of steps rather than a giant leap to achieve them. Their hope was with a combination of grit and patience they’d bring about real change on the court and off it in about five years. It hasn’t quite been five years, but as Edens and Lasry joined the rest of the NBA at all-star weekend, they did so knowing their efforts have been fruitful. The franchise they bought for $550 million – with input from co-owners Jamie Dinan, Mike Fascitelli and a stable of local owners – is now valued by Forbes at $1.35 billion. More importantly, the Bucks built Fiserv Forum, a sterling new arena downtown that in its first year is averaging more fans (17,431) than the sellout capacity thanks to standing-room tickets. They also added a state-of-the-art practice facility and the on-court product is worthy of both venues as the Bucks entered the all-star break at 43-14 – the best record in the NBA. Aging players and the club not really going anywhere. Certainly turned them around in 5 years and wasn't scared to invest. Looked at younger players. The bucks are currently the topped ranked team in the NBA this season. We just have to have patience as Villa fans, it will take time to build a proper foundation again. Jareth
Can certainly see the model they intend to employ at Villa. Buy Villa for £40 mill, keep our better players cos loaded, buy better players cos loaded, make it entertaining cos loves soccerball, get promoted and Villa's value can be anything north of £300 mill going on what Ashley wanted for NUFC. And they don't even strike me as wanting to sell at that point, I reckon they'll want to taste some serious success with this project.

In the NBA you can turn your franchises fortunes around on the back on one great player, which they now have in "The Greek Freak". They took a chance on drafting him and have hit the jackpot. Hopefully some of their luck rubs off on us.

Anything (if any) will come from Purslow...something strong needs to be done to protect players...he could have had a knife for instance!! A points deduction and fine will surely make clubs be more vigilant!

Their next home game should be behind closed doors as a minimum, that should continue until it can be seen that no repeat is possible. Plus a fine for not being able to secure the safety of the players, points deduction I don't know really as it wasn't a sporting incident, it was one of their fans and a failure of the binners to control their bin dipping horde.
