I didn't think i'd say it but I quite like this 5-3-2 formation. It seems to suit a lot of players. Square pegs in square holes. Elphik as the central CB, doesn't get exposed for lack of pace as much and can steer the defence. Hutton may be quite good in the left CB position, especially if he continues with his runs upfield with Taylor on the left. De Laet looks well suited to a wing back role, I bet he can play right CB as well. Whelan as the anchor in midfield, Hourihane and Lansbury having freedom to roam forward more than in a 4-4-2. Grealish or whoever will play behind the striker has a free role, and Kodjia can play on his own up front.

I've missed both goals due to switching over to VT ffs.

On another note, to be fair if we can use RDL as a winger and we save money i'm not overly bothered.

I didn't realise he actually had pace.

You can rewind it if you didn't know

Goal 1: 3 mins, Goal 2: 21.30 mins, Goal 3: 37.30 mins

Just scroll back the red bar at the bottom of the video to any point in time

Good first half. Kept the ball well, played it around nicely keeping it on the floor. 3-5-2 has worked so far in this game. Haven't seen any "Bruce ball" as some people call it. I think we'd expect changes for second half. More of the same please.
