World Cup : Group G (Eng, Bel, Pan, Tun)

Good first half and should’ve been out sight. Second was poor. Can’t believe Ali stayed on so long, should’ve been off at half time as obviously got a knock. Loftus cheek had a decent cameo.

Harder games to come, but you can only beat who is in front of you. Vital to get a winning start. Get another result against Panama and that’s us through

Who signed Southgate for Villa - was it Big Ron or Little?

Good start, terrible second half. Rashford was great when we finally gave him the ball. Lingaard should have finished it by the 20th minute. Stupid elbow from Walker, unbelievable Kane didn't get a couple of penalties.

Right team won.

Worst day of the World Cup football wise.

First time we've scored 2 goals in a game at the world cup since the 2-2 draw with Sweden under Sven (2006)

You can see that the team is new, no one to lean on for the young guys yet. Looks like Kane is filling that role though.

And Rashford will be a handfull when he gets comfortable with his role in the team. Sterling offers nothing more that headless runs in this setup. He needs acers of space like he gets at City. Will not work here.

Encouraging from a very inexperienced team. Ordering wins is a difficult thing, and they pulled it off

He pinched 3-5-2 straight from Sir Brian

Yeah on that BBC program about the England managers someone was saying how ahead of his time Hoddle was because he played 3-5-2.

Well Sir BL played it at Villa before Hoddle

Just now, HanoiVillan said:

When that one Tunisian had the ball kicked into his side in first half injury time, he fell to the ground and flopped around like a dying fish, then paused, rolled over to check if anyone was looking, saw that they were, rolled back over and started flopping again.

That took more than 90 seconds, and the referee extended first half injury time by 9 seconds.

One of my pet hates in football.

You could say the same about the end of the game. Kane scored in injury time. Yet the ref blew up on exactly 4 minutes of injury time played. The celebrations for the goal must have taken at least a minute.

Even the VAR translation into Braille showed that England were denied two clear penalties.

Ridiculous.

Luckily justice prevailed. England played well, for England, totally dominated the game and justifiably won the game.

The mighty Tunisia have been conquered.

Not only was it Brian Little, he also converted him from midfield to central defence, and instituted 3 at the back.

I think Harry Kane is the best out and out, orthodox striker in the world.

As in, a striker who stays mostly centrally, up front, holds up the ball, brings others into play and and scores goals.

Could be the difference between England going out in the group stages and the knockout stages.

Nah, honeslty, I think any country in the world would love him in their team. Strangely he strikes me as a German player in style.
