il_serpente Posted September 6, 2020 VT Supporter Share Posted September 6, 2020 So among all these beers with crazy flavor combinations that some of you are drinking, haven't any of you come across a single one that tasted just as bad as I would imagine it tasting? You all seem to love them all. Do these brewers who seem to pull flavor combinations out of a hat and try putting them in a beer never get one wrong? You've never tried one that just didn't work, let alone truly sucked? Or do you just post the ones you like? With the vast numbers of unusual (to say the least) brews out there, I would think the odds would suggest that there would be a fair number that the even the majority of flavored beer lovers would agree are just not any good. But I don't recall anyone saying, "I had high hopes for this lychee marshmallow stout, but in all honesty, I just wasted a fiver. Don't make the same mistake I did." Just curious, is this a recent phenomenon in the UK and the continent? I don't recall ever seeing any beers like the ones you're posting in any stores here. Partly inspired by this thread, during the summer I bought a bunch of different flavoured craft ales and none of them seemed an improvement on original beer flavoured beer. A few were “as nice as”, a cherry one was good, but the rest, well I enjoyed trying them, but I’m gonna stick with ornery IPA, Stout & Lager.

Me neither, theres probably some website somewhere that randomly generates text and artwork for a can/bottle, like "Beavers Whiskers, a blend of hops and barley with a hint of anchovy, brie and tuna"

bickster Posted September 6, 2020 Moderator Share Posted September 6, 2020 Is it too much to ask that some of you might try beer flavoured beer every now and again?

Nope, as long as it's been dry hopped to shit. You can't tell me that Citra and Mosaic aren't beer flavours. Davkaus
I like plenty of standard pale ales, IPAs, stouts, and even the odd traditional "bitter". I don't tend to post them though, because they're boring. The beers I post tend to be the unusual ones I've never tried before. It'd be a **** dull thread if it was full of fosters and Guinness. Popular Post fightoffyour Posted September 15, 2020 VT Supporter Popular Post Share Posted September 15, 2020 This is a beer from Trzech Kumpli called Pan IPAni, which is a play on words of “Pan i Pani” (Mr and Mrs) and “IPA”. So it had to be the first drink together after getting married.

Rodders
I've had some absolute suffers through the beer52 subscription service I used briefly. They definitely aren't all winners. However the last ones I got from the shop, 'Einstock' (sp?) Icelandic pale ales went down very nicely. However going to attempt a booze free spell for a bit. Even my mum called me fat at the weekend need to shift this lockdown weight gain
mottaloo
Drank 2 of these during the game last and @ 8.2% it softened my focus of the second half a bit.....when it was cold it was very quaffable but as it warmed up a bit it was like drinking dirt.

Decent Belgian. Have you seen the glasses this gets served in? According to this: Quote The glass Kwak comes in closely resembles the traditional “yard of beer” that been used since the 17th century. Tradition holds that these glasses' elongated shape was designed for stage coach drivers, who were able to rest the glass in their stirrups and then drink from them without having to bend over.
Davkaus
I'm quite partial to some Kwak, and I have that glass. It's been gathering dust after about the third time I drank from it though, because it's a pain to clean.
