Popular Post privateer
6 hours ago, Nigel said: How do you know Henry will play decent football? The fact is even he won't know what will work for him. You are absolutely right. We have no idea whether the football would be good or bad or effective or ineffective or whatever permutation of that it would be. However, what I think we can safely say we do know is what the football under Bruce would be. We know it will be more bad than good. We know it will often be effective but often will not. What we also know is that last year two of the three teams that went up played the best football. The quality of this league is low, if you play good football you'll win a very large number of matches. We played some terrific stuff at times (but not often enough by a long chalk) and when we did we were winners. But Bruce Timidity and Caution™ prevented that from being our season-long philosophy. We lost the play-off because of that mindset. I don't want another season of that. He may luck out and get us up but I don't have any faith in that. FWIW, I'm not claiming Henry is the answer. He may be, he may not but he is the "type" that I hope is the answer, even if he isn't the "man" that is the answer. We've traded owners who aren't the answer for owners who should be. It's time to trade the manager who isn't the answer for a manager who could be.

When you say "out of" do you mean something like: A, A transfer request? B, A vintage whiskey? Popular Post Dodgyknees
Sherwood is classed as a hero for getting is to and losing an FA Cup Final, so it's no wonder Bruce is a hero for losing in a play off final. Once upon a time we praised managers for their successes, not because they got close to a target and failed. Big Ron got close to a league title and failed. That's something to praise. Gregory had us competing at the top and then had a poor FA cup final, but it's still above and beyond expectations. Losing a play off final with one of the most expensive squads in the division is NOT a success. Edited July 24, 2018 by Dick
romavillan Posted July 24, 2018 VT Supporter Share Posted July 24, 2018 That article goes on to say that his job with Belgium was preparing the attacking phase of play and that the club can't announce until they have finalised the terms of Bruce's departure. Might be what the Bruce meeting is about then.

Bruce in my opinion has had above and beyond what he’s needed and underachieved. I personally don’t think we can improve under him, and I don’t think he can adapt to what the new owners might want in terms of playing style . However having said that he has stabalised us and would be the safer pair of hands. Big decision either way
