Thinking of ditching Ni No Kuni 2 and getting this for playing over the Easter hols instead.

Have to say that NNK 2 has gone on the back burner for a bit as this is just addictive as hell atm.

I had never played a FC game, bought 3 when it came out and thought it was garbage.

So repetitive, crap gun play, crap missions.

So safe to say I won't be getting this :D

Different strokes and all that. I've got blind spots for several critically acclaimed gaming series and in some cases whole genres.

It's what floats (and then subsequently blows up) your boat.

Favourite moment so far was immediately after the tutorial island. Heading to get the dog i was ambushed by enemies jumping out of a van (nothing new there, happens every 100 yards), quickly killed them all bar one who was engaged in a scrap with a turkey that had decided to attack him. I fired my last bullet at him just as he pulled out a grenade to throw at me, He died, dropped the grenade but the turkey carried on pecking him. 5 seconds later and there was a turkey heading into orbit, It was launched so high into the air before coming back to earth with a thud it made me laugh rather a lot.

I have all the Specialist followers now, and their story quests have been some of the best parts of the game.

I took Faith down (parts of that are bloody annoying) and have made in roads into the other two siblings. I'm going to leave the main missions for a while now though and concentrate on getting all the perks via the Challenge system.

I think one of the things I've enjoyed the most is the more organic way the world is discovered. Much much better having to actually travel somewhere, or speak to someone to unlock things rather than the archaic 'climb a tower' method from the previous games.

Apparently there's a 'space' gun somewhere...

Did the guy in the north, im not sold on the whole hunting party stuff got a bit of james bond villain thing to it but i did like the end of his, clever

Spent a couple of hours last night doing the remaining outposts and just talking to people lining up the various side quests and prepper stashes etc theres an insane amount of things to do, a fair bit of it is the same (lighters, comics, baseballs and vinyl...)

Attack helicopter is the way forward, line everything up, fly round shooting it

Considering im still not 100% sold on it being anything other than average im piling the hours in to it! Ill be over 20 already and im tempted to do the lot, there are some co-op or online trophies which will stop me from getting platinum

It's a good fun game, I've spent quite a lot of time on it. I just wonder whether it will get too repetitive, combat situations are pretty much the same throughout (this might get boring like it does in a game like Metal Gear Solid 5), I'm also not sure whether the story is quite strong enough, however so far so good.

I dont know if ive made this comparison before but i think the MGS comparison is wrong, this game and many like it screams out for the MGS5 enemy AI mechanic, there is no learning curve at all, very little reward system, you get a high powered silenced sniper rifle with a decent scope and youve done this game in terms of difficulty, no more throwing stones hiding bodies etc just get on a hill shoot the alarms in case you miss someone and then pick everyone off

MGS5 was absolute genius in terms of reacting to how you played it, you attack in the dark and headshot everyone then they started wearing night vision goggles and helmets, you did a side mission attacking the helmet shipping container and they stopped wearing helmets...i dont know why no one has taken that idea and ran with it, far cry needs it

I haven't fished once yet, because the only thing more boring than fishing is fishing on a video game, but it looks like you can get plenty of perk points by catching different fish and there's several trophies that involves fishing.

That's what I loved about MSG5.  It was absolute genius from that point of view, and there were so many ways of playing the same mission.  You could snipe everybody from distance, or sneak in and knife them all, or drop a tank in and run as many over as possible.

I'm about 4-5 hours in and its clicked finally.

Same old far Cry really, the sandbox is there and its up to you how you want to play it. I think the slight changes have benefited the game and the graphics have certainly improved since Far Cry 4 so its all good in my book.

Theres 2 missions that ive done that have involved fishing and i think there is at least 1 more that ive got to do

Its a bit shit but yeah you do get perk points and its easy money

Yep it's quick & easy and a reasonabe source of some spare cash, especially if you end up catching some of the bigger ones, just move the right stick around and reel in with left trigger. The line changes colour from green to orange to red if you are trying to go too quickly so just stop reeling. there are different baits etc but if you want salmon just pick the one with salmon in the name, First few hours i didn't bother but now every time i pass some water i stop for 5 mins and catch a few
