Leeds Utd new badge

I'd love our crest to be redesigned but there is always a worry in the modern world of marketing that it will be turned into a pile of shit. I think Man City did it pretty well to be honest.

I don't understand how this got past the kind of barriers that I assume would be necessary to get through to change a club's crest? It's literally one of the worst redesigns in the history of the world.

Clubs are morons.

Back in 2016, Villa paid a London-based design company £2million to re-design the club’s “entire visual identity”.

They duly Tippex-ed the word “Prepared” from their badge and (presumably) skipped town…

The team I support back in Sweden IFK Göteborg (and the town of Gothenburg) paid a local author money for his services when re was asked to name the new stadium previously called "Old Ullevi". His idea for a new name was "New Old Ullevi" And that's what they went with...

I’m sure that £2m figure was put to bed by the actual agency that did that redesign of our badge, it was £50,000 or something.

edit; it also included a lot more than just changing the badge, it was creating layouts and designs for promotional material, banners, blah blah blah.

edit edit;

The agencies summary of the work:

Annoyingly paywalled Creative Review article but says it all in the headline:

Yep. Was debunked at the time.

Mans even though the changes are small, it did actually male our badge look a lot better. The white outline on the badge especially.

On the actual shirts it looks fine.

That's a relief. Would have been shocking from the club if true.

The fact that "New Ullevi" also exists for another stadium in the same town makes it so utterly stupid I just cant fathom it.

Continuing off topic, sorry. Just to clarify (I checked), they have addressed the naming issue, almost.

The old ground is just called "Ullevi". The new one took the old name of the old old ground that was demolished. So the new ground is "Old Ullevi" :bang:
