first -ball in hat

second-ball inquestion

third-example of a 5

right, (I have time on my hands), here ive tried to make the images as equal quality as i can, and since the ball inquestion is crap quality, ive reduced to qualty of the other two. If you see the two on the left are clearly similar, the proportions are similar, as are the lines. the middle ball has no line on the top like the 5, doesn't have a large ball like end to the tail that curves back up, and the curve on the 5 clearly starts higher up than the middle number. Hence, the middle number is not a 5!!!

Are you reallty suggesting that a guy on live tv, would call out the wrong number by accident (like he can't read) and that either accidently call out the wrong number again that would equal out his first error, or that he would cover his tracks like no one would notice????

Aston Villa fans call for FA Cup draw investigationDec 6 2007

VILLA fans are calling for an investigation into Sunday's FA Cup third-round draw amid claims the wrong number was announced for Villa's opponents.

The FA say they are satisfied former Arsenal defender Sammy Nelson drew out the Number 24 ball - assigned to Manchester United - and called out "24".

But Villa supporters believe Nelson drew out the Number 25 ball (assigned to Middlesbrough) and called out the wrong number.

The BBC is equally adamant that there was nothing amiss and confirmed the match will be broadcast live next month.

It will be the fourth time in seven seasons the two teams have faced each other in the FA Cup.

John Cresswell, the editor of the villatalk.com website, said: "It's about fairness and integrity - two things that the proud history of the FA Cup, if not the whole of our national game, is based on."

Later in the draw, when Nelson pulled out another ball and called out "25", his finger was covering the number.

"It was a Number 24," a spokesman for the FA said. "But because there's a line underneath the numbers, at that angle on the film it does look like a 25. It's been verified by our competitions department.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Now that all the evidence has been gone over time and time again and been discussed, aren't some people clever (and one or two bloody rude)!

It's not hindsight when alot of people straight from the start were there saying it.

The problem is people rushing to conclusions BEFORE they have the evidence. If you want to call scam and fix on something (especially something as high profile as this) then you better be damn sure that you have the evidence to support it else you're just going to end up looking pretty stupid.

This article was posted yesterday, it's not like it was an instant reaction to the draw. Until yesterday there's been pages and pages of discussion in the draw thread about it, and plenty of evidence that it wasn't a cock up (the story on the bbc site that was posted on tuesday for instance that actually does EXACTLY what this article is asking.). But instead of actually looking into it and examining the evidence people just go for the knee-jerk reaction of "omg it's a fix!" and now half the world thinks we're paranoid, can't read, and are scared to face man u.

Talk about making Villa fans look daft.

Makes us look small time IMO.

Do you think anyone apart from Vt posters have even given this a second thought. And why would anyone care how we are though of? Call me old fashioned but its what happens on the pitch that matters to me, not what is written on a message board read by 20 people.

Sorry John but I really think that your way off on this.

Your suggesting the guy doesnt know the difference between 24 & 25, then realises he made a mistake but lucky he draws the other ball out covers up half the number and remembers to call it as the other number!

Conspiracy gone absolutely mad.
