VAR is like when people spray a dog in the face with water to stop it barking. The celebration is a spontaneous thing, but after a while when you've been sprayed in the face by VAR enough times you just hesitate or stop. The impulse is changed. Its like you're suggesting it isn't happening. I've seen several good goals in the last 2 weeks not celebrated by the player, the other players or the fans because it might get chalked off. Kills that moment, which is the absolute pinnacle of the game. Everything, the running, the training, the practicing, the drills, the tactics lead to that point of putting the ball in the goal. The release of all that work is partially robbed. If it's offside, handball, illegal goal, why would you celebrate in the first place? I bet you most players know if the goal is good anyway. ElGhazi was clearly on side the other week. So many goals scratched off for minute or non existing things by VAR that everyone is fed up with it and the players and fans reactions at goals are starting to change. Would I rather celebrate a handball than what? IF VAR meant that it got things right then sure, the offset might be worth it. But as been showed countless times this season alone it doesn't. It's still ambiguous at best and far too often just plainly wrong. Sure it will (sometimes) pick up the few things that refs get blatantly wrong, but other than that it's just random.
