Benteke had an injury that season and was coming back into form as Sherwood became manager, Benteke always needed games before he hit form and Lambert was unlucky with the timing , Sherwood was lucky.

Sherwood was a chancer who, at first, dropped lucky with form and injury. As soon as we hit any problems the wheels fell off.

For me the Leicester game when we was 2 up to lose 3-2 was the moment he lost it. There are certainly parallels with Smith's loss to Wolves.

Lambert was definitely not unlucky. We went on 2 long spells without scoring, had just released Albrighton and refused to trust Grealish

We were relegated under Lambert as we looked useless

Must have missed the bit when Lambert relegated us, thought it was Remi, anyway you win by the law of repittion and presenting new evidence of Lambert's incompetence, the mystery relegation. 🤔

Eric Black was caretaker manager when we went down.

Eh we were in the bottom 3 and just got battered by Steve Bruces Hull and scored 11 goals in 25 league games playing the shittest football at Villa Park.

No way Lambert was pulling us out of that and Benteke played most of them games

Benteke came back from his long-term injury in the beginning of October. Got a red card and missed games. Lacked physically and some confidence. He got it back sometime after Sherwood was appointed. Both Lambert and Sherwood was shit but @tinker is most right here IMO.

Other than our first 4 games at the start of 14-15, we were a steaming dog turd of a side for about a calendar year before Lambert was put out of his misery.

He had lost the away fans at the end of the previous season. It was just a matter of time before he went. Which made his new contract after beating Liverpool very bizarre.

I think between the 8th of February 2014 to the 10th of February 2015 which was his last game our league record was  P 39 W 8, D 9 L 22. Or 33 points over more than a season of games.

Sherwood kept us up. Whatever he did he got a tune out of the players for that run in. I've no doubt it was Pardew BS that rubs off over time but it worked.

As for Tom Fox. The man was an utter clown. Lost count of how many donkeys got new deals under that muppet.

Surprised he's not at Man Utd handing out the deals to Jones Rojo and the rest of them

Always said we should really have gone down a year earlier - in lambert last full season I think we beat arsenal away, Chelsea, high flying Southampton, point at a field, maybe even man City? Regardless that's 10 points at least that team should never have got in a month of sundays
