I said at the start in the prematch thread that Whelan would really struggle in a 2 man midfield, and that was just the case. Anomah didnt look very good either when he came on.

Poor performance overall but Kodjias 2 pieces of magic saved the day and perhaps Bruces job. Next 2 we should win with our eyes closed so I think Bruce is safe now.  Time to push on.

As you mention it, whilst not doing much for ball retention, Jedi would probably be a marked improvement on him as things stand.

Very good individual performances mixed with very poor ones. Team still extremely nervous which was easy to see as once we conceded we went to shit. Great to see our resolve though after that.

Our team looks better than most teams we've played this year. Just need to get a bit more clinical in the final third.

Happy with the result as that's all that matters for now.

That kind of attitude was accepted in the premier league when we were fighting relegation every year, but when you are chasing promotion wins is what's expected, so it goes without saying that to get out of this league we need to be playing much better.

This win was no different than the handful we managed last year. Perhaps undeserved and looking very shaky at the end. A better side would have put us to the sword today.

Exactly, we are the big dog in this league, and our standards should say as much.

That was one for the people who don't care how we play and only care about the result, we were shocking for the majority of the game but somehow won.

Hourihane Motm, he was everywhere today and nice goal

I voted for Adomah because of his visibly attacking attitude, but I agree with you Bunnski, Hourihane was our most effective player.

Relief.

For me the issue isn't SB, there is no doubt that there is a lot of pressure on the boys to perform and we all expect - which is completely right, but they have to do the simple things better, LIKE PASS THE BALL 5 YARDS without completely failing to see that there is an opposition player between them and the player they wish to give the ball to!!

Frustrating but a piece of 'free kick magic' from Connor got us out of a hole and bizarre as it sounds, for all the lack of control for the majority of the game we looked in control.

3 points, back to back wins and hopefully a bit of momentum. UTV

How about: We were well in control for the first half after an initial Forest flurry; lost the initiative badly at the start of the 2nd but came back strongly after the Forest goal and defended staunchly if nervily against Forest's attempts to get an equaliser?  Played sloppily throughout but good enough to see off Forest.

Is that a slightly more balanced account of the game?

How about  a combination: Played sloppily throughout but somehow won.

Playing sloppily throughout is just not good enough by any measure.

Performance was so poor. Whelan looked knackered after 20 minutes, we need to hold onto the ball better and start winning some 50/50's. If we go up this year it'll be because of Terry and Chester, and Kodjia's attacking talent. I think it was Fergie who said 'champions win even when they're playing badly'. So clearly Bruce has got it spot on.

Do you think that what you witnessed today will get us promoted Briny?

We're starting to have quite a bunch of match winners, that's for sure.

Still, it would be great to win because we play great football, following a well thought out plan and making each other better.
