He's looking very good. Shocked at how much quicker and fitter he looks, benefiting massively from playing under a proper manager.

It does now seem clear that we were not driven hard enough in training last season.

I don't think we were driven hard enough in a lot of things last season or the beginning of this one.

He said himself that driving 300 miles every day took it's toll, Even with better planning to sort out the food situation rather than relying on service stations he is still sat on his arse in a car for 5/6/7 hours most days which obviously isn't ideal for a professional sportsman

Was amazed he didn't find a place up here, surely he stayed the night before a home game in a hotel at least as John Terry did.

Considering all that he still play very well last season and hardly missed a game through injury. Pleased to see faith shown in him by Pellegrini and him doing well in the prem as he's one of the more likeable "big name" players we'd had in last 5-6 years.

Thinking about it pretty sure likes of Heskey, Friedel, Ireland and going further back Alan Wright and Michael Oakes all used to come into training from the North West.

Pires was driven in from London every day and think likes of Luke Young and Sidwell also had their family homes in London.

That's the problem with signing experienced players close to 30. Their families are settled so they don't want to uproot for the sake of playing here for 1-2 years.

WTF happened to him, had a good season here last season but not a chance I thought he be a Premier League regular again. Has lost a good bit of weight and even showed a bit if dynamism that he didnt really have here though he is playing a lot more central now. brilliant performance tonight from him
