KJT123
This match provides an ideal opportunity to build on the performance against Norwich and start to create some momentum. Rest a few players but still put out a strong side. Steer Bree Chester Samba DeLaet Jedinak Lansbury Adomah O'Hare Green Davis
bannedfromHandV
Could be tough this, they've won all 4 games thus far

Though would be minded to try Hogan alongside Davis to see how he does. Looking forward to Adomah getting his fitness back
alreadyexists Posted August 20, 2017 VT Supporter Share Posted August 20, 2017 It's a freebee for me; put out a second string side, try and win and not to pick up injuries but to be honest I don't care. The league is of ultimate importance.

Demitri_C
I would use this opportunity to test out how davis ans hogan do up top. Give steer, o hare, samba and adomah games. Rest terry, hourihane johnstone, whelan. Our games friday and that is far more important than this game Edited August 20, 2017 by Demitri_C
OutByEaster? Posted August 20, 2017 Moderator Share Posted August 20, 2017 -----------------------------Steer--------------------------- Bree---------Chester-------Samba--------Taylor --------------------------Jedinak-------------------------- -----------------O'Hare--------Lansbury--------------- Adomah--------------------------------------Bjarnason -------------------------Agbonlahor---------------------- I'd tell Gabby to try to replicate the hold up role that Davis played - to see if he can - we'll need someone else who can do it and Gabby is a better bet than Hogan. I wish we had more than one left back.

Good point, it's a last resort rather than an option. I don't know what our youth LBs are like, perhaps one of them is ready to step up.
The Fun Factory
Be interesting what sort of side Bruce does. Normally you would play the kids such as Davis and Green- but they played so well yesterday I suggest to rest them for Friday! I suspect Johnstone, Hutton, and Terry to be rested, no idea on the rest of the side.
Czechlad
I think we will go with this: I want to give Chester a rest, but we only have 3 centerbacks unless Bedeau, Toner, or Suliman are given a chance.
8pints
I'd go Steer Richards---Elphick---Samba---Bree Bjarnason---Lyden---Lansbury O'Hare---Davis---Green With Adomah, Jedinak (if fit) and Hogan getting some minutes off the bench. I don't know if cup tying Elphick and Richards will make any difference to getting rid of them, there doesn't seem to be any interest so I'd rather give Taylor, Chester and Terry a rest and I think Bree has played as left back in the past a few times. I'd start Davis and Green as I think the right thing to do would be to keep their momentum going and give them some more first team minutes especially as it is a cup game, work on building their stamina. In these type of situations I'd always rather start them and take them off if they look exhausted because starting games has a different feel to coming on as sub and it would be good to get them used to that. I'll say 3-1 Villa with the front three each getting one. Edited August 20, 2017 by 8pints
Michael118
I'd like to see Davis in a front 2 with Gabby with O'Hare in the creative role. Can see it working and if it does I'd be persisting with it in the league.
Skills
I think Bruce will go for something like this keeping Friday in mind: Steer Bree Elphick Samba Bjarn Jedi Lansbury Ohare Adomah Gabby Hogan Not sure on Elphick's status, Chester if he refuses to play him... I still think McCormack needs to be involved in these types of games especially if he's not leaving
mikeyp102
Friday is far more important than this: Steer Hutton Samba Bedeau (Elphick if fit) De Laet Jedinak Lyden Adomah O Hare Bjarnasson Hogan
robitee
Was Bedeau not only a sub for the u23's last week? Think he's miles away from the first team atm
