It's not even a really great goal, just opportunist. How good was Matt LeTisier.? If he had left Southampton for one of the big clubs he would be thought of as one of the all time greats I think. Yeboah goal doesn't count because I think it took a bit of a lucky ricochet off his shin which could have gone anywhere but fell perfectly in his path. What makes the Dalian Atkinson goal so outstanding for me is not actually shown in the clip and it makes me so angry because it's often missed out when the goal is replayed. The ball actually reaches him travelling at speed in the air diagonally over his shoulder, he brings it down killing it dead, then that clip starts. It's so sublime. You look at most of our squad from that last few years being paid £100k every single week to play professional football who couldn't trap a ball played an inch off the ground played directly towards them. Atkinson really was a superb talent. I feel privileged to have seen him play for our club despite the fact he wasted much of what he had.
