What is our best eleven with the new recruits? I'm finding it hard to pick and also to work out our best formation. It is nice to have options though! Seems to be pretty good competition in each area.

4-3-3?

---------Johnstone----------

Bree Terry Chester Taylor

-------Jedinak-- Whelan------

-----------Lansbury--------

Green -----------------Elmohamady

--------------Kodjia

3-5-2?

------------Johnstone---------

-----Chester---Terry---Samba-----

Bree----------------------------------Taylor

-------Hourihane---Lansbury-----

-----------McCormack---------

------Kodjia-------Hogan-------

4-4-2?

---------Johnstone----------

Bree Terry Chester Taylor

Green Jedinak Whelan Elmo

------Kodjia----Hogan---

     Bree Chester Terry Taylor

               Lansbury Whelan

Elmohadamy Grealish Hourihane

                       Hogan

This depending on fitness at present. Lansbury can go forward more as Whelan is more mobile than Jedinak and will cover the space left behind. Grealish and Hourihane can swap positions to pull the defence out.

Its nice though that we actually have a good squad now and have options to change it up. Gabby is looking fresher than he has in years. Green is looking to make an impact. Hutton could come in at rb (if not sold). Kodjia to come back from injury. Bjarnasson will be looking to feature and can obviously cover numerous positions.

Our best XI (which suggests to me when everyone in the squad is fully fit)

Johnstone

Hutton - Terry (c) - Chester - Taylor

Whelan - Hourihane

Adomah - Grealish - Kodjia

Hogan

Although I think our squad is looking strong and there are a few players unlucky to miss out in this squad. I'd happily see Green, Elmohamady, Jedinak, Lansbury, Amavi, Samba, Baker and Steer playing too.

I can't even begin to think about this. I have absolutely no idea how we should be set up or who we should play.

However it pans out there will be players not in the starting 11 most weeks I really rate.

If we don't get promoted with that kind of quality and line up we don't deserve to ever go up.

Our squad right now is akin to playing FIFA on amateur difficulty we should be breezing past everyone.

Can't predict a starting XI but worth saying that this is perhaps the strongest our squad has been for a very long time.

46 games to play and we have two decent players in every position and a seemingly sizeable pot of up and coming youth players.

Good work

Hutton bacuna jedinak ohare gabby amavi - no thanks!

Far  better players left out - swap those 6 for bree, Taylor, whelan , lansbury, hogan and Elmo .

O hare may well prove useful as the season runs as may gabby ,and Jedi  but I wouldn't want bacuna in  a villa shirt again .

People putting Green in their first 11. If he is one of our best 11 players then expect a very hard season. He has potential to be decent, but then so have so many of our youth graduates: Delfouneso, Gardener, Bannan etc....

Weather Green goes the same way remains to be seen but he is nowhere near being good enough to consistently start for a team aiming to finish in the top 6.
