Glenn Whelan

I love him. He's a battler. So ridiculously maligned. I was keeping track, think it was 13 games unbeaten when he started and/ or played +60 mins until Sheffield United. He's the best CDM at the club better than Thor at the job. Neither are long term what we want but I'm chuffed for him same as Hutton against Blues

Not a fan of Whelan, sad to say - always got a mistake in him. Best as a sub.

See Hourihane and Chester Forest game. Whelan at fault for both goals against SHA but other than that that's nonsense imo

I disagree there. Thor has alot more energy, pace and is better on the ball

Much more fitting in a DS team than Whelan

Thor is so overrated at DM. He doesn't break up play enough and pops with the odd goal so everyone gives him a free pass

Think it was 2 OGs last season and a ton of cock ups.

(Have not fact checked that - maybe I am just biased).

I don't recall 2 OGs. 1 against Reading over a year ago. Like I said 13 games unbeaten when he played significant minutes between last season and this

They all say " Great Pro".....so who am I to argue.

Dean Smith himself has said he is great to work with....that has a value in training with the young kids learning from the old pro's.

He has a function and it is best we realise that and not value him on something that's not him.

He is not a first team player now....but he does give the manager an opportunity to use him to manage the game.

I would say very much underrated imo. Shame we do not get to see more of him.

Was very impressed by him the few minutes he got under Smith until he got injured.

I remember at that game we looked alot worse when he went off

The greatest penalty miss in club history.

Deserves a budget whisky named after him.
