Result was not that much of a surprise though, when, just like the senior England team, the squad and team selection prefers athletes who can run fast instead of footballers.

Also, wasn't that effectively Germany's U21 B team, as many of them are playing in the Confederations Cup?

Yep, quite a lot of the German U21s are at the Confederations Cup. It was pretty much our B team as well though, we could have picked Alli, Dier, Shaw, Stones, Sterling, Rashford etc.....

Get in with the FA very early and wormed his way up from there.

Horrid. Absolute horrid. Even if we win what was learned or developed from that shit? Moron is only in it for his CV. Get rid.

You on about Pearce or Southgate?

Other than the seemingly obvious "what tactics" can anyone who watched the Scotland and France games, the U20s and all the U21s see any kind of parallels in the way they're being coached?

instill think much like villa they've still got absolutely no identity, no style, no shape, were not long ball, were not short passes, were not defend and counter were not pulis ball, were just kind of nothing cobbled together and hoping for the best

watching ze Germans some of it is obvious, the way the keeper distributes the ball, it's the same at seemingly all levels with several keepers, keep the ball then spring forward with pace and movement, Spain asensio, Denis Suarez, merino, Saul, they're all ready made for the passing game of the main team

They probably couldnt as teams would have kicked up a fuss and the embarassment that was the senior manager picking them for a game with Scotland and a meaningless friendly vs France

Was it Carroll and WIlshere who werent allowed go a few years back by there clubs then look at clubs from other nations who have no problem releasing players

Sweden have the same problem, at least this season.

We had about 40 players who were called up but couldn't come to this tournament. Of course there was injuries, need of rest, and pending transfers. But a lot was down to clubs refusing to release them. For those of them playing in Sweden because the season is going during the summer.

Going back to this watching chile, unbelievably well drilled, have been for a few years now, it's not because of the ability of the players, every professional footballer at international level should be able to complete a 5 yard pass before moving 5 yards to the left in to space and having the ball back

were just mentally not up to it

2 incidents in the last 2 minutes

the elbow could have been a red, he smashed him, followed by an all day penalty, no VAR...

if this trial is deemed a success it's a farce

To be fair to him watching how chile play, especially when they had loads of possession towards the end of the second half, keep ball at the back, with the ball at his feet higher up the pitch he's got 3 options on, you can see what he does and that he's good at it, city can't pass it round like that, they don't hold the same shape,

for city he looks rushed and on edge, for chile he's got all the time in the world

Goretzka taking his chance in this half a B team, been a great prospect for years but has a shocking injury record

He is still only 22. He also hasn't really had real bad injury troubles. He is a good player.

More a shock to me he's actually saving shots straight at him which he was incapable of for three months last season.

Exactly which of Germany's two extremely brilliant teams should play in the world cup? The experienced senior team who are better than everybody or the youthful B-team who are also Bette than everybody? Such a conundrum...
