It's a sporting MIRACLE. we as villa fans should know that merely spending lots of money doesn't guarantee success.
BOF Posted May 31, 2017 Moderator Share Posted May 31, 2017 Aubameyang all but gone to PSG for ~€70m. It must be frustrating being a Dortmund fan. Tuchel gone, now him. Every summer you must fear the worst.
villa4europe
yep, on one hand you'd get excited because they seemingly have a great scouting system and buy lots of exciting young talent but then whats the point of it all if they're going to sell some of them every summer? It seems to be more consistent for them though. Probably made more obvious by being basically Germany's 2nd team and yet being a feeder for Germany's 1st team. I can't think of another league that has quite the same blatant arrangement, and at that level, as those 2 clubs

There is also a deliberate policy by Munich to damage their rival, in a similar way to City initially targeted us and then Arsenal.

They need to be careful though. In reality they have no rivals in Germany. They need to be keeping their eyes further afield and on bigger prizes. I hope their TV will have excellent reception for Saturday's game

This season Aubameyang scored 7 in 8 Champions League starts, including 2 vs Real Madrid, and a hat-trick in the last 16 vs Benfica after Dortmund had lost the first leg. In the Bundesliga, Dortmund's fellow CL teams are Bayern, Leipzig and Hoffenheim. He scored vs Bayern (x2), vs Hoffenheim (x2) and vs Leipzig (x1), among a seasonal haul of 40 goals, despite missing some games while at AFCON. Not exactly the hallmarks of a flat-track bully! Cavani scored 50 odd this season, including against their biggest CL opponents Arsenal (x2) and Barca (x2), and against their main Ligue 1 rivals Monaco (x5), Nice (x2) and Lyon (x2). I never understand the perceived negativity around scoring plenty of goals against weak opposition. It guarantees 3 points most weekends. It's often levelled against Zlatan, Higuain, Cavani, etc, but surely everyone scores more against the fodder than versus top opposition? Anyway, rant over!
Dr_Pangloss
They should be doing it against the 'great' sides in the Premier League cos it's the best league in the world, innit. Always been a bit skeptical of Cavani to be fair, but he was sensational last season and his international record over the past four years has been exceptional too. Mat Kendrick's Dentist
Bruno Alves off to Rangers. He's obviously ancient, and was part of a poor Cagliari defense last season, but he's still getting into the Portugal squad. Maybe one we could've got a good Championship season out of? Czechlad
Dortmund can go for Stindl, Modeste, Lacazette, Kruse, or if they want to be really ambitious, Muller to replace Auba.

It probably makes sense to just sign a reasonably prolific Bundesliga striker like Modeste or Hernandez as Dortmund have plenty of goals in their team and redirect funds to get in some decent defenders for once.
