Popular Post Demitri_C
No bloody way, devastating news. Ugo for me was a top defender and he spoke so well of the club when he left. Seemed like a genuine nice guy as well. Its been a awful shit year for the Villa Family. i hope a big tribute will be held for him on Sunday

Eastie
I do hope that the minutes applause for Ugo on Sunday is respected by the blues fans - tragic news and so young .

RIP. It will be applause. in fairness to them lot they were decent about Dalian, Taylor and Petrov's illness. I think some things just transcend petty rivalry. At times like these football tends to come together.

Popular Post TrentVilla Posted April 21, 2017 Moderator Popular Post Share Posted April 21, 2017 I don't know why... but one of the things that always stands in the memory with Ugo was the way he used to see the ball out for a goal kick. Sounds simple, but nobody really used to do it. Then along came the man mountain Ugo. If the ball was played in behind he used to put himself between the man and ball and just see it out, often stepping over the ball. Nobody could get around his massive frame and outstretched arms. Him doing that in front of the Holte then turning and jogging calmly back into position is the mental picture I always have of him. Such a calm and collected defender.

Football rivalry takes a back seat when this happens

Villan_of_oz Posted April 21, 2017 VT Supporter Share Posted April 21, 2017 (edited) Gutted. One of the first Villa players I knew when I started following...... Feel sorry for his family. Having experienced sudden death in the family it knocks you about. Does anyone know if he has kids? Edited April 21, 2017 by Villan_of_oz
bobzy
There have been many high profile people passing away recently, it seems - however, this hits hardest for me. Probably due to my age but, whilst incredibly sad that Dalian Atkinson and Graham Taylor passed away, I don't remember them that much. Ugo, though, was a huge player during my most memorable time supporting Aston Villa. A key figure in a colossal defensive line-up that won the 1996 League Cup - probably my favourite Villa moment. Strangely enough, I started a new game of CM 97/98 last night and took charge of Villa (of course). Have batted away offers from Liverpool and Arsenal for Ugo. He really should've had more than 4 caps. Rest in peace big man. For me, a true, true Villa great.
