Anyway, I listened to the commentary AND watched the stream and I wouldn't be surprised if most of the dramatically negative posters we reading text commentary.

By all accounts we should have been 2 or 3 up in the first half.

We pressed well, and carved out good chances.

Inevitably we fell off, but we also played a team, at home, which realistically can still finish in the top 2.

Also bare in mind we have an extremely depleated squad. I will moan with the rest under normal circumstances, but I can't go overboard today.

If we were not so far off the playoff places, or had such a torrid season, some people would be nowhere near as mad about this.

We've been dire this season and it's pathetic. This is another pathetic result.

Sounds like we performed well tonight against a team who may well be promoted this season. To come out of it with nothing was unlucky but we also need to put our chances away.

When an opponent is faced by one of our players, more interested in getting hit by the ball, by shying away.......the best thing he could do is stick it in the net.....and he did.

Sounds like we had a decent first half, followed by the usual capitulation in the latter. Once again we only manage to play football for 45 minutes. Same shit, different day, only this time we didn't get a result. This is the sad reality against better opposition.

We all know who's to blame. Some will still argue he just needs more time.

For all the people who have been complaining that, even we were winning matches, we were performing badly, well it sounds like tonight we "performed" well but lost. 

Personally I could have lived with another poor performance and 3 points.

We don't score enough goals and we don't pass the ball well enough. 

Oddly, we're still competitive at this level and with a little more luck would be looking at a top ten finish.

If we could just manage to do either of those fundamental and important things well.....

How can it be bad luck that in the majority of games we fluff our chances and our opponents do not?

If it was the case a few times a year i could understand but this is game 6 or 7 out of 10 where weve had as many or more chances than our opponent and failed to get a result.

It's poor finishing and some bad luck, most of the bad luck coming in the form of sudden bouts of bad finishing from players who had been putting the ball away all season in the shirts of other teams.

Dead right. As soon as we went 1-0 down I was resigned to losing. When Steve Bruce first arrived he identified lack of resilience as a major problem for the (then) squad. He hasn't really put it right yet, has he?

Good to see that Manbunsbury played well. We aren't getting promoted or relegated, so a hard fought loss away from home whilst playing well is acceptable to me at this stage.

Here are my ratings and reactions (sponsored by Ted's fish bar):

We came out on top in the first half and generally bossed the play without looking particularly threatening in front of goal. Jedinak (sponsored by male grooming.au) was in control in the middle of the park and Lansbury and Hourihane were making some intelligent runs around him.

Hourihane, I think, was put through and put an attempt over the bar (sponsored by Greg's goalposts ltd) before somebody else, not sure who from the other end of the ground,hit the bar. These were the two best chances of the first half as our hosts didn't create at all.

They have a drum and a megaphone. Not sure if this is a Wagner idea but it didn't really work as not enough of their fans joined in with the songs at nil nil. The drummer (sponsored by Ibuprofen) carried on regardless throughout the game though. I do think it affected the atmosphere in our end slightly, harder to get songs going that weren't to the beat of the drum etc. My first visit to the John  Smiths stadium (sponsored by Galpharm) tonight and I have to say it was better than some of the other new build bowl stadiums I've been to.

The second half (sponsored by Alan's News and Booze) was a dire affair. We didn't show any of the spark we hinted at in the first half. We didn't look like scoring, except for the time that we did from a smartly worked quick free kick which the ref made us re-take because it didn't fit in with his script of giving every decision to the home side. They scored out of nothing thanks to us sitting off and inviting their player to have a free shot at goal after a corner.

Once we were behind it was game over as a lengthy game of head tennis (sponsored by Murray & Co) ensued in and around the midfield, and Kodjia cut an increasingly isolated and frustrated figure. He did try and win a penalty by making the most of a tussle and got booked for the privelige; you've seen them given, it would've been harsh on their defender but he had spent the evening hugging Kodjia like a cuddly toy so you could say it would've been deserved too.

Bruce had his hands tied by injuries. However, the subs came too late to make a difference IMO. Adomah wins today's Invisibility Award, probably the worst performance I've seen from him. Amavi needs to learn how to play in this new position if he's going to do it for the rest of the season. Taylor looked good enough at what he does and Bree had a tidy game at RB. He loses a point for not showing such gleeful attacking abandon as Alan Hutton (sponsored by the Proclaimers).

Lansbury was my MOTM (sponsored by Because Nobody Else Deserved It) for not giving up and generally looking the most bothered out there.

Finally a note on Huddersfield... sponsors for each individual substitute, are you serious?! Don't know why it annoyed me so much but maybe because it comes across so cringeworthy and small time which in turn gets to me even more because we are languishing in the bottom half and they are chasing automatic promotion. Good luck to them but really, if they get promoted we need to take a long hard look at the state of English football, they were awful!

A point would've been a fair result I think from a largely forgettable game, onto Wednesday on Saturday it is.

Shocking defending for the goal but seriously what was the keeper doing. I don't understand how he can be beat from that angle in such a way! He is costing us a lot of points.

To be honest I am the opposite. I don't care about the points because we aren't going to reach the playoffs anyway. The important thing is the performances and that Bruce shows us he can get us promoted next season.
