Vive_La_Villa
Chester Terry Baker Samba. Better than we've had as a premier league team for a while.
Popular Post Brumstopdogs
https://www.avfc.co.uk/News/2017/07/20/transfer-news-samba-signs Quote Aston Villa are delighted to announce the signing of Chris Samba. Samba was a free agent after leaving Greek side Panathinaikos in January 2017. The 33-year-old arrived in B6 on trial the following month and he has impressed Steve Bruce greatly over the past few months. I have played against Aston Villa many times and it’s always been a club I have had the utmost respect for.Chris Samba He trained with the squad in Portugal during the pre-season training camp and also helped the team keep two clean sheets in friendlies against Telford and Walsall. Samba has now penned a one-year deal. He said: “I have enjoyed my time with Aston Villa and I am very pleased to continue this association after signing my contract with the club. “I have played against Aston Villa many times and it’s always been a club I have had the utmost respect for because of its standing in the game. “I can’t wait to put the shirt on this coming season. OutByEaster? Posted July 20, 2017 Moderator Share Posted July 20, 2017 Low risk I guess - another who is very experienced. We really are going all out on promotion this season or carnage.

sne
Was either him or Alex Bruce I guess. Hope we don't actually have to use him.
Demitri_C
This is a solid signing i think for a year. His height is going to be massive for us Welcome sambarico
mikeyp102
With Hourihane's delivery, we should be looking at close to 20 goals from set pieces with these players now. I haven't seen him play competitively for a while, hope we don't get exposed for pace. Aerially for once we will dominate. He's a decent enough back up for Terry
Farlz
As long as he's back up then this isn't a problem, he hasn't done too bad in pre season. I don't want him starting though.
villan-scott Posted July 20, 2017 VT Supporter Share Posted July 20, 2017 What a unit. Welcome Samba. A good option to have in the squad and a shrewd move with Elphick leaving. More profit to combat FFP.

Czechlad
I honestly feel very confident with our center backs right now. WTF is going on
wazzap24
He looked in great physical shape against Walsall. I think he'll surprise a few and be a key player. Welcome Chris!
markavfc40
This is a good signing and make sense for a year. Bruce hasn't rushed into it as he has been training with us for the best part of 5 months so we have had a good look at him. You can't judge much from pre season games but he has looked fit and just as capable as those he has played alongside. Be good back up and certainly I'd be more confident with him in the side than Richards or, based on his appearances for us, Elphick.

We don't score anywhere near enough goals from set pieces. This needs to change.
jackbauer24
Samba > Elphick Samba Free. Can sell Elphick for even £1m. Samba shorter contract than Elphick currently has left. Wages probably comparable. So better player, more experience, improved bank balance, shorter contract. Absolute no-brainer.

Jareth Posted July 20, 2017 VT Supporter Share Posted July 20, 2017 Samba loves a header. So does Terry. I've been naively rooting for a Samba contract since I got a proper look of him. He has a lot to offer. Very pleased he has shown enough to earn it.

He needs to improve greatly as he has been awful since he arrived.
