So Lambert brings his go again attitude to Ipswich.

And on the other side of the world Sven-Göran "Svennis" Eriksson is about to be appointed manager for the mighty Philippines national side.

Oh what a time to be alive.

Worst start to a domestic campaign since 1989 but that won't stop all the press and pundits telling you what an outstanding job he has been doing. With pals like that in the media he will go far in management.

In the new manager thread few weeks back, people were saying he was doing a great job ?

thats a bit of a shit stat though isnt it? the only real comparable seasons are the last 2 and after 9 games in those 2 years they had 18 points and 15 points and lost a game to celtic, this year they have 17 points and have lost to celtic (and even as i type this 15/16 they had 15 points after 9 games so its not even true!)

rangers have to be realistic and say they are somewhere between 2nd and 4th in that league, currently 5th and if they win their game in hand they will be top 4

celtic being 6 points off the top with a game in hand having already lost 2 games is a far bigger thing than gerrards rangers start

It's been a bit difficult to judge as they've already played about 12 games in europe and haven't lost any. I know the opposition hasn't been great but Rangers were knocked out in qualifying by a pub team from Luxembourg last season so a little bit of progress there.

They are off the pace in SPL but beat Celtic at Ibrox in a few weeks and they'll be back in the mix.

I love a bit of Mourinho bashing more than the next guy but he has won 2 trophies at United and finished 2nd last season but he gets absolute slaughtered by media and probably still will even though won at Juventus tonight (only Juventus 10th home defeat in the new stadium).

On other hand Klopp has been at Liverpool longer, spent 400 million and won nothing and lost shamefully last night to a minnow yet the media never get on his back

To be fair it was a serious smash and grab win. They offered nothing all night and then fluted two goals at the end. Juventus' tried to shut up shop instead of just holding onto the ball.

As an aside it's bizarre mata doesn't play for United every week. He makes them play.

Has Klopp seriously won nothing ? - I thought he had the odd cup here and there ?

On a ratio to money spent/trophies won liverpool  must be top, but you never hear anything of it

Like Bruce, Pulis etc. Martin O'Neill is the most stone age of them all

Was he really all that though in his peak or a media myth. Dour football, no ambition and this was 10 years ago

Only manager that ever made Gabby look like a footballer, no mean feat.

He made most clubs better than when he arrived, be it through big money or not. His methods were great, his motivation was great, he kept things simple, counter attacking, big man, little man. He had a good career.

Though like many of his ilk he has failed to move with the times, too stubborn and pigheaded (or lazy) to continue his education. The only difference between him and most of the others is that he somehow is still in a job and very much on the gravy train.

Ex Sweden manager Lars Lagerbäck who did a good job for us and then went on to lay the foundations and create the Island side that had such incredible success at the Euro's and then qualified for their first ever WC has now helped Norway to win their group in the Nations League.

Averaging 2.5 points per game, their best season in 89 years winning 8 out of 10 games and only losing 1.

Doing it once again by having very simple but clear instructions drilled time and time again. Players have described it as being brain washed :D

In his first season the won 3 draw 2 and lost 4. The year before he took over they won 3, draw 1 and lost 5.

I may think he stayed on 2 years too long as Sweden manager but for a small nation with limited players you can't really find a manager better than Lars Lagerbäck to lead your national side
