I think his loan was much more to do with the strikers we have  - Tammy and Kodjia with Davies as back up. Seems to me that Smith has got a lot out of players who were being vilified on VT - Taylor and Whelan anyone? I agree he is probably a championship player but a good one

Well one thing is for sure. He isn’t a good Aston Villa player.

People can make all the excuses for him that they want. I Cant wait to see the back of him.

If West Ham had not come in for him, we may not have been influenced to pay so much.

I think in those days we didn't have the courage of our own convictions.

There is no aspect of his play that encourages me....sad really.

I’ve said it before but it is actually staggering how many excuses are made for this guy.

Ive literally never seen anything like it in my time as a Villa fan.

I think some fans are waiting for something to click with him.....sadly, its not going to happen with us.

Tell you the funniest thing, he’s actually had a decent amount of game time in a Sheffield United team that score a lot of goals, and he still never gets a goal.

Did he win a competition? He doesn’t have one attribute to his game that I admire,

He’ll be with us until his contract runs out.

He's going slip down the leagues, I can imagine he'll be in league 2 before long. He's very fortunate that were able to make him a millionaire, absolutely shocking player.

Actually, there’s a fair chance he will slip up the leagues.

No one is taking him off us anytime soon.

Enda Stevens has got more goals in the last 3 games from full back than Hogan has the entire season

I think we missed a trick not inserting a clause that they must buy him if get promoted

This just proves how useless he is.

Will anyone continue to blame the system?

No it can't be the system anymore.

I think it's that he's not used to playing on grass the length of Brammal Lane.

Yet he keeps getting minutes there. Go figure.

By my maths they've had 16 games since Hogan signed.

He's started 3 games and come on as sub for 4 others for a total of 372 minutes, or more or less 4 full games of football. Out of 16.

So, he's not really getting many minutes at all.

They've also had a season-ending injury to Sharp. It doesn't seem too much of a stretch to suggest that with Sharp and McGoldrick fit and in form, Hogan would be getting almost no minutes whatsoever.
