Didn't look right before the game. Warming up one of the coaches had his arm around him and having a proper heart to heart. Hogan's body language was head down, looked really affected by something.

Yes, his head was not in it at all.

A real Steve Bruce masterclass blowing £15m on Scott Hogan. Never in a million years worth that at the time but has sure as hell destroyed whatever decent player there was in there.

I'm sorry but the only time we tried to play through the middle Hogan made a good run and cut it back (poorly I give you that).  However, why we put him on with Gabby, put his main provider out on the left and just lumped it forward to them on every occasion. It was awful so awful.

Hogan's best chance of scoring goals is either playing off Davis or with Grealish in behind him.

Today he was brought on with Davis going off and Grealish moving wide. He then had balls lumped forward for the last 15 minutes.

Confidence is shattered, a goal or two playing in a team set up to aid him would do him the world of good.

Pre match against Millwall he was just stood in center with a huge coat on while everyone else were warming up. He looks broken.

Its baffling isnt it? While he's sat on the bench we play with a set up that may suit him. When we bring him we change formation and start lumping it up to him.

He has been shit for us there is no doubt, but like Hurihane, Bruce is making it much more difficult for the kid.

I'm torn. On the one hand, he scored 14 in 25 appearances in the months before we signed him, but he's 25, and that's the only good spell of form he's had at a decent level.

It wouldn't hurt to set up the team to give him a **** chance though.

Spot on this- it looked like Bruce asked him to run onto Gabbys headed flick ons- ridiculous.

Confidence looks shatted ..not helped but getting zero service when on the pitch .

Bruce has talked about getting a striker to hold up the ball in the Jan window , which begs the question why the hell he Brought a striker like Hogan in the first place if he wants a target man ....

I keep hearing from Bruce he has no cash ..he has no cash as he blew millions last Jan and none of the signings have really done well...whilst Houriane at least is deemed good enough to start he is not the player he was at Barnsley.

Sell or loan him in January and write this one off.  Its not working and he is lost at Villa. Use any money clawed back from this utter shambles of a transfer to bring in a decent target man who can play Bruceyball. He might be decent at a different club which plays some football- but not here. However he might be a one season wonder as well.  Baffling waste of money- Steve Round has to answer a few questions on this.
