VillaAlex
Well... Pogba has pretty much proved again this tournament what a world class player he is. At the end of the day, any world class player can look bang average at times if their teams system doesn't suit them. The sooner Mourinho leaves Man Utd the better. Other than that, the guy seems a utter word removed but Lucas Hernandez is proving to be a brilliant full back at every level. In truth you can take any Atletico defender and say that. All have had excellent seasons and an excellent World Cup.
villa4europe
lucas goes to ground very very easily IMO shame because he has looked good and yep atletico back 4 of vrsaljko - godin - gimenez - lucas its not bad is it?!!
VillaChris
Pogba suffers a bit because of the transfer fee (Bale used to get this aswell e.g. why isn't he scoring more goals than Ronaldo?!) and also way he promotes himself off the pitch. As he showed in this tournament though very good CM at the top level.
villa4europe
agree, would also add that he suffers from the increasing obsession with stats rather than watching football "he's only scored 15 goals in 88 appearances for utd"

Filipe Luis was decent too, as were the ex defenders, Miranda and Alderweireld. Ridiculous really.

As he showed in this tournament though very good CM at the top level. He's mainly suffered because he's been incredibly average and inconsistent for Man Utd. I think he gets the extreme end of both praise and criticism - partly to do with his transfer fee and partly to do with him playing in England. For example, right now, he's getting OTT praise for this World Cup. He was good against Croatia but not consistent this tournament - again. The ball for Mbappe was crazy good and shows the kind of thing that he can deliver; but it's sadly few and far between. Kante has upstaged him in this French side IMO, as have Modric, Cheryshev and Bentancur in similar-enough central midfield roles. I think Modric is the only one getting talked up more than Pogba. Again, maybe it's because we're familiar with them both.

Aside from Godin, time is on their side too. Also explains why Hernandez goes down so easily!

Saul looks decent/ solid, Lemar IMO will come good, he has a lot of talent. Edited July 16, 2018 by Dr_Pangloss
Kuwabatake Sanjuro
Callum Hudson-Odoi looks like a serious talent and will make the first team regularly for Chelsea this season I reckon. Still 17. Jorginho is a great signing too.
Popular Post NurembergVillan Posted August 18, 2018 Moderator Popular Post Share Posted August 18, 2018 Didn't know where to put this. Feel like there should be a Buffon tribute thread somewhere. Anyway...
Zatman
Always loved Buffon, he was a bit ott at Real game last season but ok for one moment of madness in a 20 plus year career But always a classy guy

Popular Post Zatman
David Silva is the most underrated player in last 20 years. His CV and skill will make him one of best players ever to play football but at Spain he has been overshadowed by Xavi and Iniesta and even at City he gets little recognition but a genuine football legend and probably City greatest ever player
