If that is true, then how is it ridiculous that we are so concerned? We bought him in January, gave him no chance to play in his natural position and no really consistent opportunity to play anywhere, and were about to sell him. Yesterday's result hasn't done much to stop the worries about our '' strategy'' at the moment. Nixon specializes in north west football mainly Blackburn - his last villa info was we were about to sign peter crouch last month - take him with a pinch of salt - far from reliable on villa stuff.
Jareth Posted August 20, 2017 VT Supporter Share Posted August 20, 2017 The Birmingham Mail diasagrees with Nixon, but don't let that stop the manager bashing http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/aston-villa-transfer-rumour-conor-13502578 Hourihane has been in and out of Steve Bruce’s team since arriving from Championship rivals Barnsley in January. But the Birmingham Mail understands that Villa were keen to keep Hourihane even before his winning treble yesterday.
ferguson1
Be a real shame if he left now. Would want £10m plus for him, but who would we get to replace him now? Snodgrass or Wilshere on loan? Think i'd rather hang on to Hourihane if possible.
Phumfeinz
If we sell him then we truly will be a mid-table championship club for the foreseeable future and I for one will be done with the club

Demitri_C
We are under no pressure to sell. 4 goals in a week, its going to cost Brighton a hell of a lot of money to prize him away from us

Villarocker
Hourihane has never been an issue for me. He's not been here a year yet and needed a run in theme team played where he can have a shot at goal and it's hard to do that when you're in front of your own back four. DCJonah
The mail is just a mouth piece for the club Nixon might not get everything right but as journalists go he's a decent one. Wouldn't surprise me. Bruce preferred Bacuna last year and this year. If not for the crowd reaction against Hull Bacuna would still be here imo

Well, what is there to say - it wasn't criticIsing anyone for bashing Bruce - it was saying any old report is being translated into bashing Bruce - he deserves bashing but it aint a zero sum game, he aint all bad, and fine if anyone wants to voice their dislike ok, but base it on fact. hippo
Selling a player whom we brought for £2m - for £4m achieves nothing. The bid has to be close to £10m to be of interest.
Ponky
If it was any other premier league club I'd be worried but Brighton have a good chance of going straight back down IMO. It would be a high risk move for Connor.
OutByEaster? Posted August 21, 2017 Moderator Share Posted August 21, 2017 In the current market, I'd want £4m for Gardner. £4m in Premier league terms isn't a transfer fee, it's a salary; I'd be looking for four times that.

John
That hat-trick will put a zero on the end of anything Brighton may have hoped to pay. £4m became £40m on Saturday and why would Conor want to join a club that will be making way for us at the end of the season? Selling him would have been such a backward step and Brighton must have taken us for mugs by showing any sort of interest in our player.
