Out goings were a different story of course, he didn’t miss a penny then! I’m pretty sure the Bendals used the same accounting methods, or worse, for the count at that Albion game. Haha I went to KEGS Aston too but I loved rugby. I was a much better rugby player than I’ve ever been a footballer. My Dad was a rugby nut and played for the RAF first team. Sadly he passed away in 1999 and missed England winning the World Cup. My heart then and always belonged across the park though. Dad took me to Villa Park hundreds of times though and he was chosen too. I have to say there wasn’t a sport that he didn’t follow, he’d watch anything and everything. Saw us beat Blackpool 3-0 and Shef Wednesday 4-0 in the week before that game and couldn't get to Norwich for the final game in Which Frank Pimblett made his debut and starred. What's great about that, if you didn't look closely at the cars and didn't know when Trinity was rebuilt, it could be a 60 year old photo. Re "it's like the first time" that's how I always felt about the AV floodlights until they were removed. At night games the heart beat a little faster EVERYTIME they first came into view. All the more if there was a little mist or fog around. I can still vividly remember sitting on my dad's shoulders going under those lights in a crowded road, probably 1975 or so with a massive Villa Rosette on my jumper. My aunt who used to live by VP brought it about 50-55 years ago I guess. Don't know if it was purchased in the club shop, one of the match day vendors outside the ground or a local shop.
