I actually had them on a pub roast dinner this time last year and they were ok. Turns out if you cook them too long they taste like a piece of shit. I genuinely did not realise that was the case, and had previously assumed they were just nasty no matter the cooking method.

Absolutely correct. 'School dinner' sprouts are awful. And never, ever try frozen sprouts. But lightly sauteéd in butter with bacon, chestnuts and garlic, they are lovely.

mjmooney Posted December 1, 2016 VT Supporter Share Posted December 1, 2016 (edited) OK, I'm a Dylan fan. I've got pretty much everything he ever recorded. So as a completist, I had to get this. But, let's be honest, even for the most dedicated Bobcat, it's... challenging. No, strike that. It's AWFUL. It'll still get played once every year, though. When the oil is cold the they soak it up so it takes longer for them to crisp up. With hot oil they start frying on the outside immediately. For added amazeballs flavor use goose or duck fat. Shit now I'm hungry.
Popular Post TheAuthority Posted December 4, 2016 VT Supporter Popular Post Share Posted December 4, 2016 My mom is going to sell the house we grew up in and move down near my sister in Wiltshire next year, so I decided to take the wife over for 1 last family Christmas is Stourbridge. Flying over the 21st, Merry Hill on 22nd to help my mom get the food in (nightmare,) 23rd having friends and family round for drinks. Every Christmas Eve when we were young, my best mate & I would do the pub crawl from Wollaston into Stourbridge (used to be 14 pubs.) One year we made it all the way, got to Stourbridge and ended up playing Bingo with the old ladies and we won a whole ham. We are going to try and do the crawl this year but I'm sure we'll get to the 2nd pub and have to go and have a nap. (Bathams at the Unicorn) Christmas Day with my sister and her kids and then the finally getting to VP on Boxing Day for the 1st time since 2008. Going to see Dick Whittington at the Hippodrome that night as my wife had never seen panto. Really looking forward to it all and I think it's gong to be a brilliant Christmas week.
