Aston Villa are delighted to confirm that Stephen Clemence has joined us today as first team coach.

Clemence joins Steve Bruce’s backroom staff, having previously worked with him at Hull City and also at Sunderland.

I like that Bruce has thought about this, bringing a younger recently retired coach in who can perhaps connect with what is essentially a young squad.

Assuming he's up to scratch generally as a coach, of course.

In what way? Steve Clarke was recently a manager of a PL club. I was surprised he went back to No.2...no chance he would take being pushed further aside.

recently was 3 seasons ago

Pepe Mel has a more recent Premier League managerial career than Clarke ;)
