I hoped for better on Saturday v wolves. I will be very disappointed in Brucey's start in we haven't won a game by next saturday night.

I think the majority did Hippo, and when we near enough dominated the first half I for one thought we might have been onto 3 points. We where unlucky to have conceded the penalty.

I think from the next 4 games we are looking at 10 points from a possible 12 available. D-W-W-W   ;):thumb:

We almost need brucey bonus to have a slow down in games so he can get some proper training time with the lads.

even up until today he won't have been able to start on them properly as the games come so quick!

I agree, he needs to somehow get more fitness and stamina into the players but then also travel to and from games, plus giving them rest days after games to avoid injuries.

I think we will lose tonight and quite easily 2-0 or 3-0.  That is hardly the manager bounce we wanted and while I am not knocking Bruce at all as I think the job is very hard, he has only had a few days with them and circumstances are different but Cardiff had lost 6 of their last 7 ,  new manager won on Saturday.  You're not telling me Warnock is a better manager or they have less issues than us or a better squad than us?

And yes their win may be temporary but what would we all give for three points and a win right now.

Criticism of the new manager bounce before you have given it chance to happen? Thats negativity just for the sake of it

Personally, I see every Villa game the same way - DRAW. Is it just me or have Villa seemed to be draw specialists over the last few year? Seems like we've had more draws than Cheech an Chong!

Try over the entire history of association football. Don't we hold the record for most draws by any team ever?

That is about as relevant as me saying I think we will win 2 or 3 nil tonight and 4 points from two games will be a fantastic manager bounce especially as I think we are going to win by 3 or 4 on Saturday. These boards are hard enough reading without reading posts writing off a new manager bounce after one game and playing mystic Meg.

As for Warnock at Cardiff he got a win on Friday but I don’t have a clue if they deserved it or completely rode their luck. I don’t know if he also inherited a squad that are unfit and rock bottom on confidence or if he inherited other issues or more issues. I certainly see no gain from using him as a yardstick without that information.

Bruce has been our manager for 5 days. Had three training sessions with most of the players only two with some who returned from international duty on Friday. Secured one point from his first game. After tonight he will have either 4 points from 2 games, 2 points or 1. Maybe after the game tonight or the one on Saturday is the best time to talk about if we had a new manager bounce because as things stand to predict that we have or haven’t is crystal ball bullshit guess work.

First of all Mark,  clearly I did not write him off.  The point which said " while I am not knocking Bruce at all as I think the job is very hard, he has only had a few days with them and circumstances are different " sort of says that.

On the crystal ball/ prediction stuff,  let's close the site down for a few months shall we then until he has had ten games or so? Or until January has been and gone? Site is all about opinions and predictions and you are right some are incredibly hard to read,  but read them we still do and contribute as well,  because strangely this is Villa and we are all interested in Villa and talking abut, well Villa. Good ,  bad and ugly.

Richard those are all fair points mate. I do think it is a bit early to be writing off new manager bounce after one game and one point though.

None of us know the impact he will potentially have, how quickly he will have it, what he will have highlighted on Saturday, the changes he will make tonight that could improve us or make us worse etc. I think for those reasons it is better to actually let three or fours games be played then assess after those games if there was a bounce or not as given we have one point in one game the new manager bounce is still in the balance and regardless of what happens tonight still will be. We could lose tonight and then win the next 2 and look back on 7 points from 4 games, vast improvement on what went before, or we could win tonight and lose the next 2 and have 4 points from 4 games and status quo maintained so no bounce.

Thats why im a little annoyed we didnt tie up Bruce sooner, he could have had at least a week of the international window to get stuck in

I think one of the big issues is that almost all of our players seem to think that they are better than they are, and that they should be playing at a higher level than this.

They play like that guy who used to be talented and is playing a game of kickabout with his mates. Taking a bit too long with the ball and getting surprised and expecting a call every time they are dispossessed.

They seem unwilling to do the job, and every team we play want's it more from the look of it.

Player for player we are probably better than most teams in the league, but because we are set up wrong, and don't press as a team we are easily bypassed and overrun in midfield.

Bruce simply has to sure up the midfield with an extra body, even if it means playing an inferior player and putting one of our expensive acquisitions on the bench.

Tbh at this point I don't even care if it is a 5-3-2/3-5-2/4-3-3 or 4-3-2-1, it just has to be a 3 man CM.

Get this done and also drill into their heads that they are not too good to play in the Championship, rather that they are atm not even good enough to play in the Championship on current form.

Edit: But IF they do the basics right, use their heads a bit more and have a bit more urgency to their passing. They are good enough to beat most of the teams in this league.

Sorry if I come across as patronising.

But you come to this forum on the back of stating that you

1-havent seen a whole game since the middle of last season.

2-make claims about players to compliment each other

3-managers we should have

4-stating stats from past seasons

and God knows what.

What is your point?

I along with many others here really dont get your logic

P.S. Apologies if I have confused you for another poster

I haven't watched many games since Remi Garde left but I've seen enough to form an opinion and share it with confidence. I don't need to see a whole lot to understand what the issues are and what needs to be done to solve them.

If you don't understand my logic then ask me to explain. Most of it is observation. When it runs against popular opinion it can be difficult to explain but I can try.
