Books You'd Like to See Made into Films

Oh good thread! Three come straight to mind, which have a variety of possibilities for adaptation and reasons why;

I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream - Like most of his work, this is bonkers, but this story in particular - one of my favourites - is completely unfilmable. I don't really like that as a term usually, as I believe most things are. This though, is not. In any way. It's far more suited to being a video game, which it was. I'd still love to see an attempt though. It'd have to be animated, I guess. I think Cumberbatch would do a job as the voice of AM.

Tiger! Tiger! / The Stars My Destination - Considered unfilmable it seems, but I think it could be make for a damned good screenplay. It's an old SF classic, and dated in some ways as a result, but it could make a great modern movie. Twists and turns, action set pieces, and one heck of a lead role.

The Long Walk - Ripe for an adaptation, especially given the success of films like The Hunger Games and Battle Royale. The master of King adaptations, Frank Darabont, has the rights to a film, so if it happens it should be done properly, at least.

Good Omens.

Guards! Guards! (Hopefully starting a Discworld Cinematic Universe that ultimately gives us adaptations of Night Watch, Reaper Man and Pyramids. And all the others.)

Perdido Street Station.

A Warren Ellis inspired Moon Knight.

Captain Britain

The Carpet People.

Anything from Iain M Banks Culture series.

Transition.

A big screen version of the Crow Road.

The Wasp Factory

The Invisibles

I don't read much at all, so I'd never read anything that was turned into a film until 'The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared'. Now I can finally say "the book was better". Never seen the film though.

I've read American Gods too, so I'm looking forward to the TV show.

You are in luck, SyFy are supposedly making it as a Game of Thrones "killer"

I'd like to see:

The Stormlight Archives - Brandon Sanderson

Mistborn - Brandon Sanderson

The Wars of Light and Shadow - Janny Wurts

Lightbringer - Brent Weeks

Wheel of Time - Robert Jordan/Sanderson

The Faithful and the Fallen - John Gwynne

Malazan Book of the Fallen - Steven Erikson

Drenai Saga - David Gemmell

Gentleman Bastards - Scott Lynch

Codex Alera - Jim Butcher

Dresden Files - Jim Butcher

Red Rising - Pierce Brown

Powder Mage - Brian McClellan

Lovecraft would be incredible. More so than just "he wrote some cool stories, let's get them on screen', they could do some really cool stuff with special effects for the old ones, it'd be incredible with the right budget.

I'm vetoing the Dresden Files though, that needs to be a long running TV series, it'd be wasted on a few films!

If I had to pick just one, it'd be Scalzi's Old Man's War.

I misread the thread title thought it said film/tv,

Crossed out the ones I'd prefer as a TV series.

fantastic book with a great young female lead, yes its a 'young adults' book (I hate the name for that genre) post apocalyptic zombie's but the way it was written was brilliant and it would make for a great film
