out thought by Mick McCarthy...the new lows just keep coming

worrying thing is Ipswich won't be the last team to use that tactic, we're easy to defend against because our final ball isn't good, grealish and ayew slow the play down too much and take too many touches and we're shit at set pieces, sit back against us soak it all up then attack with ten minutes left

we were lucky to get a point at the end, unbelievable considering Ipswich were utter **** garbage

Said it for a few weeks now, his last game will be the match against Wolves, but by then our season will be looking beyond bleak. Never wanted him, was quite vocal on the matter after watching his drab football at Schalke. He is a clueless idiot, he's spent a fortune to draw every week, Big Eck could do that with his eyes closed! Go get Steve Bruce to get us out of the league and quickly, forget the Blues link, I couldn't be less bothered about who he managed before.

I started watching at 80 mins to see if we could hold onto the lead this time, and was unsurprised to see our players defending against wave after wave of attacks. Situation normal, unfortunately they seemed to have forgotten about the "score first" bit before defending for the whole game.

Still, the unbeaten run continues.

LOL, it's not even one of the 20 most shameful performances this calendar year. You must never watch us play.

Last season we lost nearly every game. This season we draw nearly every game.

Are you forgetting that those other performances were in the best league in the world? Wake up

Maybe those saves and line clearances at the end were the lucky break our defence needed. It wasn't the greatest performance up front but they had their box absolutely jam packed and showed very little intent for the first 80 minutes.

Given McCormack and Gestede were both missing I am not sure what else could have been done. Rudy probably would have had a field day with Bacuna and Amavi as wing backs.

Then again the Ipswich defenders could have pinned him down with tent pegs and the Ref still would have called play on.

Next season we win nearly every game. This is why championship is where Aston Villa will remain.

I'd say losing 6-0 at home to Liverpool is a sight more shameful than drawing away at Ipswich, whatever division it happens in.

I wouldn't, especially after spending more money than a lower league club has ever spent.

This is important to note. There were 2 teams playing today, it's never just about us - it's how the other team play too. They were ridiculously defensive and made almost no attempt to win the game until right at the end. They regularly had 10 men in the box when we had the ball about 25 yards out and were clearly defensively drilled and organised.

Yet, we were the ones hanging on (post, 2 off the line) and had zero shots on target.

Yeah - their game plan was to repress us until we got to our usual wobbly period and then attack us with everything they had. Almost worked.

Fair enough, you're entitled to your opinion.

It just happens to be risible nonsense, unfortunately.

If you fail to see the difference between losing to Liverpool in the Premier League and holding on against Ipswich in the Championship and not having a shot on target then you're really not worth discussing football with.
