trekka Posted September 8, 2016 VT Supporter Posted September 8, 2016 I posted in the Gabby thread and it got me thinking. What are the TV advertisements that stand out for you? There are loads I can think of but I'll start off with this seeing as I've already posted it: 1
sharkyvilla Posted September 9, 2016 Posted September 9, 2016 The specsavers ones are often quite good. I actually belly laughed at one the other day with the security guard turning off all the lights in the museum until he flicked off the penis of one of the statues.
rodders0223 Posted September 9, 2016 Posted September 9, 2016 Cannot remember the cereal but it had some weird kid on it singing "They're gonna taste great." He was so repulsively upbeat. There was a rumour that he killed himself, which turned out not to be true. God, I wanted to hit that kid in the face.
AVFCDAN Posted September 9, 2016 Posted September 9, 2016 The John Smiths ones just as Peter Kay was getting big were good, I re watched a few on YouTube the other day. 1
Seat68 Posted September 9, 2016 Posted September 9, 2016 I still sing the words of this ad to this song. Also the one below. 1
NurembergVillan Posted September 9, 2016 Moderator Posted September 9, 2016 The Buffon one is a personal favourite as it was the first time my work had been advertised on TV.
mjmooney Posted September 9, 2016 VT Supporter Posted September 9, 2016 All adverts are shit. Some of them are moderately entertaining on first viewing. Ho-hum on second. After that, a massive irritant. I know I've done this rant in the Piss You Off thread, but if I had my way ALL unsolicited advertising would be banned.
John Posted September 9, 2016 Posted September 9, 2016 Bing Crosby singing "you can be sure of Shell, Shell, Shell"! Carling Black Label (Dambusters) and Heineken (the water in Majorca) I think are also worth a mention.

red5 Posted September 10, 2016 VT Supporter Posted September 10, 2016 (edited) Chap I work with's surname is Hartley. Guess his nickname... Edited September 10, 2016 by red5
red5 Posted September 10, 2016 VT Supporter Posted September 10, 2016 Still used now when appropriate. Wonder how many people ( young ones...!) understand the origin.
